Re: C6 Z06 Sighting?? (OCMike)
Not sure, unless it's just the engine. The Z06 is supposed to be more differentiated from the regular C6.
"Driving down Woodward in Royal Oak, white BIG BIG tires and brakes(diff than the standard model) also diff. exhaust. it was the regular body stle(targa roof with glass hatch) manufacturer plates of course."
"definitely NOT a poser Manufacturers plates and i forgot to mention the add on flares over the rear wheels. the flares looked similar to the C4 grand sport flares but quite a bit larger."
Doesn't sound that different.

Hmmmm....
Prototype Corvettes are traditionally always White. Very, very interesting. They are supposed to debut in six months so this would seem to be legit.

it very well could have been a new z06 but who knows. I've seen 2 C6s cruising around town but both were convertibles. they wont be driving around white or flat black corvette z06s now, or atleast i dont thikn they would be. but anyways, thats the great thing about being around flint and/or detroit you do see alot of concept cars and wonder what the hell they are; about 2 years ago i saw a dodge magnum with the tape on it and had no idea what it was.

The shot of the truck with the C6s looks very convincing. Looks like there's a fender flare on the rear, not to mention a disguised C6 on a truck full of undisguised ones? Doesn't add up.

Is this the image you are referring to?
Fender flare looks pronounced on the front, too...

From the rear it looks like it has a wider stance than the base C6......
Next time follow the truck to its destination......Just kidding!!!!!!

While it does look like the upcoming Solstice, it looks significantly bigger than the Solstice I have seen in pictures......just my initial thought.

Re: C6 Z06 Sighting?? (ghostRder)
Here are two separate sightings by members of VCA (Viper Forum) from Michigan:
...the roof seen was black...on a white C6 Z06:
"car was mostly undisquised white/black roof, some details on the body were not as clean as the final cars(at NAIAS an press intro at local dealer Cauley Lemans winning C5R there and all along w/ those really rare Callway cars that got sold a Barrett-Jackson in Jan.) Notable differences are LARGE wheels and tire (much bigger than stock size), different rear and front brakes larger also and cross drilled (dont remember about the stocker), different exhaust tips looked like a Corsa(they might make the titanium set up for the current z06, not sure), the large rear tires were covered by a pop rivet style flare over only the top of the rear wheel(similar to the C4 Grand sport) flare from the '90's. and thats all you get. that and manufacturers plates with a very silent test/engineering driver. That and a great exhaust note. hope that helps more."
And another sighting report from Michigan (VCA Forum):
"Talked to the driver of the Z06 at the gas station while he was filling up. He was very closed mouth, but did admit that it was a Z06 prototype. They guy was Asian with a dirty white jump suit on. It had the name of his company but it was wrinkled and dirty and I couldn't read it. They guy wasn't helpful and he drove very conservatively. Car was white with extra wide tires, black roof, and huge exhaust pipes. It was in rough condition with extra gauges, felt tip writing on it, and very spartan interior. Guessing from the section of town this car has been seen in -- he's testing motor or electrical systems."

Re: C6 Z06 Sighting?? (OCMike)
My take:
1. It has been known officially for several months that the twelfth C5-R chassis (C5R-012) would be fitted with C6-R body and mechanicals and used as the C6-R test mule in mid-2004. Reference: My C5-R Website
2. I was told this past weekend (June 26&27, 2004) at Mid-Ohio by a Corvette Racing Team member that he had seen the completed C6-R.
3. The car in the pic above has strange humps on the rear edge of the deck - wing mounts shown below?
4. Also, the front flares on the car on the carrier are very large - much more like the C5-R front flares in the photo below.
My conclusion is obvious - it is the C6-R test car going to Phoenix to begin development. Comments?
