Are you running The ZR1 Splitter without the support?
How many of you are running the ZR1 front splitter without the support. Got a ZR1 splitter to put on but need to order the support if I have too. Want to do it right. Just need to save a few more pennies.
Thanks
Dave

Will you be doing any consistent running above 100 MPH? If not then you should be OK without the support. I'll be putting my ZR1 style splitter on shortly, but due to a hit and run parking lot incident, I had the reinforcement put in when they repaired the front fascia. I run extended 150+ MPH and would not install the new splitter without the reinforcement piece which I got from GMPartshouse.com

What Dave said.
And to install that support you have to pull the front bumper/fascia off, which is like a jigsaw puzzle (and of course one piece is always missing ). And IIRC, you have to drill a couple extra holes in the fascia for the support (altho I think you have to drill a couple extra holes for the ZR1 splitter too, but maybe not if you don't have the high-speed support).

I wouldn't run it without a support. Over time, your facia will pull away from the headlights and front fenders. Even with the support, if you run over 100 mph often, you'll still pull away from the headlights and fenders. I had an LG splitter with undertray installed with the support and we also tied the undertray to the front frame rail. We used an aluminum plate riveted to the inside of the undertray and then ran struts to the front frame rail behind the front grille.

I don't do anything but putt around but that's not to say I won't ever. Looks like a hell of a job to install the support. Guess I will bite the bullet and get one. I think if someone could come up with a brace that they don't have to tear the whole front end off to install they would sell a fortunes worth. Wish I had an Mechanical engineering degree.

Unless you are doing some serious track work you don't need the extra support piece. Worst case you're not likely to break anything.
But odds are you will soon break the ZR1 splitter on a parking lot curb or something (which is why I don't have one.... yet).
I'd settle for a High School Diploma

The only car I've seen with a permanently bent fascia was a drag car making consistent 8.7x passes at 170+ mph. I have a ZR1 splitter waiting to go on and I myself am debating whether or not to buy the support.
