For that price find an 08-10 with <6k miles on it. They are out there.

Id buy it . Minus the cost of all the maintenance required for an 8 year old car. But Bill has a point some parts might corrode that are not lubed. But Id still take a chance.

Is this thread helping you lol? Lots of great opinions and thoughts but it looks 50/50. Just met a guy who bought an 08 with 500 miles yesterday and paid $50,000.00 for it. A lot of people aren't familiar with this forum and he is really happy with it. Changed all the fluids and is running great. I told him to get the heads addressed and get the tires changed asap... Good luck!

Unless your friend is just planning on storing the car as well.

In December of 2010 I bought my 2007 Z06 from a dealer. It had exactly 300 miles on it. Carfax showed a new battery, that's it. Dealer offered to sell me an extended warranty, I turned him down. It now has 20,000 on it. The only thing I did was put on a set of Nitto Invo tires. I have had zero problems. The last time I checked all the pistons were in the holes they started out in. Just my experience.

I bought an 06Z last year with 2900 miles, out of warranty. Was really sweating about it because it was still pretty early in the "newborn" curve that Bill was talking about. No major issues with 4200 miles now though. Personally, I'd need a warranty with that car.
