Default Shifter Rattle in 2007 Z06-will MGW shifter fix??

Trying to find a fix for this. Anyone who has installed the MGW has it fixed it? Any other shifter fix this issue??

Really annoying and cheap feeling in a car of this level of performance.

Thanks

Nobody has any fixes?

I see some replace with a newer standard corvette lower shifter box with the rubber bushings, but anything else that works?

I had it fixed under warranty. Z06 didn't have the rubber bushing till maybe 08 or so and then all vetted shared same shifter is what service advisor told me. The factory part fixes it. I think you might be able to just get the bushing if you want t o save $. Sorry I don't know about the mgw.

1. The factory part (update) *might* fix it. Might not. This has been a notoriously difficult thing to quantify.

2. He has a 2007 which, if still stock, has the metal "bushings" on the shifter box; they are not replaceable.

George (MGW) has gone to *great* effort to nail down the rattle issue. The latest version *should* fix it (if not, at the least, make it a lot better.) My 2007 had a awful rattle when new. The latest MGW is on my car now and there is zero rattle. But I wouldn't buy the MGW with the idea that it "promises" to fix things. It can't. But it *probably* will.

Hang on to those original metal-bushing shifter boxes - they'll be hard to come by in the future and will be desired by all the purists going for those 100 point show cars.

The MGW shifter (latest version w lower box) stopped the rattle in my 06z, great product & easy install.

My '07 was fixed under warranty when the car was new. There was a service bulletin on it.

I first tried the current model MGW shifter on my stock lower box. I had rattle under higher RPMs. I then bought and installed the MGW lower box and no more rattle. If you go the MGW route make sure you buy the latest model shifter and the lower box. I believe MGW will now only sell the shifter with the lower box as one unit new for this reason.

I have the mgw in my 07. it's good but not sure if it's 400 dollars good. really high quality product tho. best shifter I've ever seen hands down. I've had hurst, pro 5.0 and steeda. MGW is way better than them all. I didn't find too much difference from the stock Z shifter.

I have my stock lower box and shifter laying around from my 08 that never rattled. Setup has 12,500ish miles on it and is in great shape. PM me if you're interested in it. I swapped to the latest MGW this spring. The install was really simple and it's a more solid feeling shift. Haven't missed 3rd since and the 1st to 2nd grind you get with a cold trans in the morning is completely gone as well. I'd recommend going with the MGW, hands down, if you want to go shorter/notch-ier. If you're looking for the same shift feel of stock, hit me up or look for another new version GM shifter. Good luck!

Thanks!

Going to wait until the end of next month and decide what I want to do. $400 for a shifter is a lot to pony up for the new MGW, but I could see myself doing it if it fixes this god awful rattle, and feels much nicer.

I'm told, the MGW, Michelin pilot ss, WCCH or AH heads, and DRM Bilstein shocks are the top 3 mods to make a Z06 perfect.
