[Z06] Z06 Breaking up at 4,000 to 4,500 rpm's

Burning Brakes
I had the issue a few years ago in my z. Was not to noticeable on the streets as the more load it had the more obvious it was. So it be came very obvious in 3 and horrible in 4th so it was at the track I was always getting pissed. Did lots of research. One thing to check is inside the snorkel of the intake are little foam pads. If the glue comes loose pad can flop around and clog intake. This was not my issue but I did find it in my research.
My issue was bad alternator. I don't completely understand but it had some thing to do with improper voltage and ECU then getting or sending mixed signals. I had the problem 2 years and went to many dealers and shops before this was found. Even though it was fixed I was so tired of it and all the hype with valve guides I switched to zr.

No I have dual springs and one of the outer springs broke. As of right now it looks like no other damage and just the springs will need to be replaced.

I've read of several dual springs breaking on LS7's, but never a beehive spring breaking on one.
There may be a lesson in there somewhere . . . . . .
Edit: There was a rash of Comp Cam 918 beehive failures years ago, perhaps not on LS7's but on other LS engines, but Comp is pretty well known for providing mystery parts made who knows where by who knows whom... kind of like the duals we are seeing show up on LS7's currently . . . .

Well the dual springs definitely save my motor and a whole lot of money.

The shop said that they have seen about 5 cars with broken valve springs but they have always been the inner spring.

Instead of just saying "one of my dual springs broke", or they said, she said crap, how about some details??? Like what brand and spring, installed height, distance to coil bind??
Just saying a valve spring does not say anything of any value.

I'm going off of what they are telling me. I know they did say that they didn't know what brand of springs were in there becuase there was no markings on them. They did a leak test on that valve and it was good.

Well if I was a engine builder I might be able to answer those questions but since I'm not I don't know.

A cylinder pressure test will not tell you that your spring is bad, unless you can pull a vacuum I suppose (never really tried that). It’ll tell you if the seats or rings are passing, or you have a blown head gasket, cracked block, but that’s about it. A leak down test is more informative that a compression test, but still doesn’t tell you anything about the spring.
