Default Has anyone installed obx longtubes?

Thinking of picking some up, I know there are "better" more expensive brands but I heard these are surprisingly good. I'll replace the bolts gaskets and clamps with higher quality stuff. What I really want to know is what length o2 sensor extensions I'll need. Ive read everything from 12" to 36" but I guess it may be different on ls3 and ls7 cars. Thanks in advance. Also if you have real world experience with these leave it here too. If you have any other tips for longtube installation or what extra insulation for wiring or the starter etc I'd love to hear it too. I prefer being able to finish a project in one try.

IIRC, these headers are made in China?

They're stainless steel with tons of positive reviews on the base cars, camaros, gtos, etc. Yes there are a handful of bad reviews but the same can be said for the ones double and triple the cost. I'm asking about the o2 extensions specifically, not your inexperienced opinion.

That may have come off a little harsh, if you have run them before then by all means you can tell me "they're junk, don't waste your time" but I know that isn't the case.

Cheap out or overpriced, Vette taxed "quality" products?

I've been wrenching for a LONG time and I've built a few cars now. This Vette tax is ridiculous. Also, one of the "major" brands always mentioned here Kooks is one of the worst people and poorly fitting headers ever made as far as I'm concerned for fox body's and camaros.

Never used OBX but read some good reviews. Headers don't HAVE to cost $1800 to be GOOD

For some, being frugal in life is how they save up for a Z06 in the first place.

There's a difference between cheap and inexpensive.

The whole "are these made in China" debate can be thrown out the window, bc at least 90% of what people use comes from China. Guess what they're happy w/ them.

There's a lot of members here that have OBX on their car, canadagrant, sonkist, panos just to name a few and myself included. If people want to pay 1800 for bent metal, then by all means do it. Also ease of installation is just about the same if not worse on more expensive headers--just an FYI. I have other sh** I can use my money on like an ECS blower kit that'll be added to my H/C build that I already have.

Yes they're inexpensive headers, a great value at that. Having something double the price doesn't mean they're better. I have them on my cam only G8 GT and they're great. I paid 800 shipped for each for them, and I'm happy.

Insulation for wiring.. Not needed. PM sonkist for he knows the length of o2 wiring-- I deleted his PMs. PM canadagrant for install tips since he did it on jack stands, if that's what you're doing. Get V band clamps (weld them on) from summit or jegs bc the band clamps are semi decent. I kept the band clamps on, and they work for me. Get LS3 header gasket since the ones that come w/ looks like junk. LS7 will have the D exhaust port, but it'll be fine.

Here's some pics.

JBA makes a great product, and has a solid reputation...and I think they are priced very well for corvette products. South of a grand for LT's and non-cat x-pipe, or $1100 for LT's and cats on the x-pipe.

I would do JBAs but not OBX. Had OBX on a different car. Collector snapped off in ~10k miles.

Thanks Rupert. Exactly, "cheaping out" aka not spending vette tax on headers is probably the best place to do it. Worst case scenario you're out 700 dollars (which I believe hasn't happened to anyone yet). It's not a safety issue, and it isnt harmful to the engine. Cheaping out on brakes, tires, heads, cam etc would be ok to argue... not bent stainless steel.

10k miles? Should outlast 95 percent of ls7s according to this forum! Lol kidding, my 06 has 14k on it now and it's only used as a weekend cruiser, I think for 7 800 they'll do just fine

JBA used to make some decent stuff for mustangs, i would think the quality would be equal for the vettes!

I do not have cats so I did not need the rear sensors. . The fronts were just long enough to use the factory.
