Default Challenger Hellcat

I have been reading all the hype of this heavy *** car with 707 HP, I did some math on the power to weight ratio of this car vs. the mighty Z06:

Challenger Hellcat with 707 Hp & 4400 Lb's = 0.161 Hp per 1 Lb
Corvette Z06 with 505 Hp & 3132 Lb's = 0.161 Hp per 1 Lb

So on paper these cars should be dead even, I think with a nod to the Z06 on aerodynamics in a high speed race.

Here is a video of the Hellcat running the 1/4 mile, this pass was on Drag Radials, I guess it ran 11.2 at 125 Mph on street tires.

I saw that the hellcat went 11.2 on street tires and 10.8 on drag radials. It's been all over the forums.

I'm not saying this to be a hater but if we can't get traction with our tires and 200 less horsepower, how in gods name can this run 11s on skinny street tires pushing that weight...

Launch control, suspension, gearing, torque management, etc? Could be a number of things. Maybe it limits power in 1st to put it down. Maybe it has super tall gears. There is a lot more than tire width to hooking up.

Well if the company whose marketing team still lives off of the 50-year old "Hemi" trademark says its true, it must be true.

Meanwhile, no modern engine uses a pure hemispherical combustion chamber anymore.

Considering there is video of it doing that posted at the top of the thread, I would assume it is safe to say it isn't completely made up.

Exactly, drag racing is not the point of the z06 and road racing is not the point of the Challenger. So no I won't be jealous of its quarter mile time. The ZL1 camaro guys might though...

Well, it wins the HP bragging wars; 707, a lot of HP, albeit in a very heavy car.

I just read an article on the car and the projected weight was +/- 4450 pounds.

Both the Z and Dodge trap about 125 stock so I would say from a roll they are closely matched in a straight line.

707 HP gets you 125 traps. Weight absolutely kills performance. Not for me but I commend Dodge for having the ***** to produce such a radical pony car.
