You only live once so make the best of it!

As the owner of an AO Z06 myself, I can understand the temptation.

I've been looking for z06 for a few months and I finally found one I could talk down to $41,500 with 35k miles. It's really clean except for some scratches against the power controls on the driver side where the window buttons are.

I haven't owned a corvette since last July and I will be having danny @lethal performance header/cai/xpipe/tune it, however head work is expensive and I was worried after reading this forum and the valve drop issue. I think the issue may be a little played out, however I'm looking for some advice has to how bad this issue really is. This car is a daily driver that will never see the track, however it will possibly see the drag strip after a few months of ownership and some mods.

Thanks,
First off, welcome back. Secondly, not sure why people even bother talking about warranty when you clearly stated you are tuning it so that's out of the picture. If I were you I'd factor in the price of replacement heads when purchasing for a used Z out of warranty. It's the price of entry, or you can roll the dice. Issue is not "played out" at all just talk to any reputable shop that has worked on Zs

EDIT: looks like I'm a bit late to the party. Congrats on the purchase AO is one of my favorite colors for sure! Good choice on getting the work done, I bought mine from FL and drove it up north where it stayed garaged until I dropped her off at ECS. Enjoy!

Did they ever actually measure the guide wear or did you just have them go ahead and redo the heads regardless?

did the heads regardless. Straight from dealer to the shop. started out at $2,400. Then I wanted a dyno tune (corsa exhaust & intake installed) another $300. Then oil pan was leaking another $600, then valve springs were way out of spec $300 for better springs. End result was $3,900 for a basically new motor. all parts were inspected in the engine.

I just got her back today and she put down 497 rwhp at 65% humidity and 92 degree temps. Torque was 470 at the wheels. At night the car puts down over 500 easy. Texas daytime is killer to the power. Anyways, I've got the ol' z06 door rattle and broken console clip left to deal with. Then I'm going to replace the head unit for one that doesn't run windows 95 :P

forgot to include the extra $200 for tweaking the corsa to make them mega loud (worth every penny)
