Default Sticky Tires

I' m going to get another pair of stock wagon wheel rims and mount a pair of sticky's on them for my few trips to the drags.
I'm looking at R888, or the 05R in the 345/19.
My question ....I can go 18's and still have the stock look. What's a good tire in that size, or should they even be considered?
I'm running 550 rwh, and want to be able to drive it to the drags. I know there are stickier tires, but I trying to shy away from a new clutch.
A search might have gave me my answer, but I could not find it on my IPhone.
Thanks....Larry

If you buy something not quite as sticky as you should then why buy them in the first place? Just run your current tires. With 550 rwhp you're going to blow away any tire that's not a sticky drag radial (Hoosier/MT etc).

If you put some sticky drag radials on with 550 rwhp you'll probably end up putting a new clutch in after a day at the strip, like it or not.

275 hoosiers or ET streets on 17" wheels are the best for that power level/etc.

Clutch are hit or miss. I know plenty of people making more power and racing the **** out of their cars on stock clutches without issues and others that have them if they even floor it.

With the 17's I'm loosing the stock look, which I want to keep.
I know, with R888, or something similar, I can't have perfect conditions, but anything will be better than the 05's.
Anything in the 18's that might be better than 19's?.....Otherwise I'll just go with the 345/19 in the Toyo, or Nitto.

I run the 19" NT05R currently. They are great on the street but I haven't had it on the track yet. I can pedal first and barely turn 2nd, I should be similar power to you too. On a street tire both 1st and 2nd were useless.

R888 aren't that great for traction, more of a road race tire. They are ok but not great.

345/35/18 ET street is the best bet for a 18/19 wheel but that is a lot of tire for 550rwhp. Do you want to go fast or just doing this for looks? The 17s are lighter and a better tire and your car will be faster. If you just want a bit more street traction and "stock looks" then do a 345 nt05r.

No...not for looks. I would just like to get a little of this HP to the ground.
Now....anyone have a couple of 19" Wagon Wheels for sale?

The 888's are a decent track tire that is streetable, but it won't have the straight line traction you want with your 550 HP.

Thanks for your help. Looks like there's a couple of 05R's in my future.
