Default Wheels powdercoating

Hey there guyz,

I think its time for a powdercoating my wheels and I'm confused between matt black or gloss black paint on my wheels, .

while powdercoating they put the wheels and tires together in the "oven" or whatever its called lol. Now my concern is: Is it ok for the tires to be put under such high temperature? I know tires handle much higher temperatures during burnouts, but for short periods of time.

why am I asking? I am not in the mood to get them off, and on again and send the tires for re-balancing

Yes you have to remove the tires and the wheels have to be stripped down to bare metal before they can be powder coated.

Well that's your personal preference. I' don't think you can go wrong with gloss black. I've seen some satin black I've liked and some I haven't. But gloss black always looks good to me.

Just plastidip your wheels. You won't have to remove the tires, its not permanent, its cheap, it lasts a long time, and it will let you decide if you really want the black look. Check out dipyourcar.com and watch the YouTube channel.

I used plasti dip on my track wheels that are semi beat-up polished finish. It's been holding up just fine but I largely did it to see if I'd like the look.

When it's time for tires on those wheels again I'm going to get powdercoating done - but in gloss black. Or at least satin. Matte always looks kinda dirty and drab. But I love the look of the black wheels.

Gloss black IMO. They turn Matte after the brake dust settles anyway.
