I am the third owner, 18.5k miles and just about as mint as a 2007 can be. The car has a Haltech intake, Katech Torquer cam (installed new springs, rods, and retainers), C5R timing chain, Phadt 1 7/8th headers, catted mid-pipes, Katech LSxR clutch/flywheel all with no more than 2k miles.

I recently installed (less than 100 miles) a 3" B&B Fusion exhaust, new ZR1 OEM Cup wheels with new Michelin PS2s, had the calipers rebuilt with stainless pistons and new boots (powdercoated body color), new pads, new Coleman 2pc front and rear rotors, Phadt Johnny O'Connell shocks, Phadt light rate sway bars (the aluminum ones) and Phadt tow hooks.

Interior mods (less than 100 miles) are all APSIS- "Jake" steering wheel, leather door panels, full leather center console, lid and waterfall. Apsis leather shift boot/****, ebrake boot/handle and leather sunvisors. Elite Engineering dead and gas pedals. I haven't installed the APSIS carbon fiber interior parts (full kit). I still need to install the new Katskinz leather seat covers since the oem leather now looks like vinyl

Exterior cosmetic mods are Katech painted valve covers and coil relocation kit. Also GM body color rear license plate, door handles, GM ZR1 rear spoiler and GM indoor car cover.

WHEW! So the big question is what does CF believe the car would sell for modified as is or stock? I have most of the stock parts. The only parts I would leave non-stock would be the ZR1 Cup wheels and new tires plus the GM body colored parts.

I figure I would spend around $1500 in labor (I would do most of the work myself) to put it back to stock. I also haven't done any head work (new guides and exhaust valves) but I am considering doing that whether I go back to stock or not. Thanks!

I just purchased an 08 with 20k miles and some similar mods as yours except for the interior and suspension. My budget was $45,000. I wasn't specifically looking for a modified car, but found a gorgeous Z06 with mods that I would have eventually done. I paid 41,000. For the record, I would have paid 41,000 if the car were stock. I would not have paid much more just b/c it was modified, so in my opinion the power adders don't add much value.

Your car looks great, and I would think the right buyer would pay around 42,000. If you are looking for a quick sale, I bet you will get offers under 40k.

On a side note, I'm curious to see if the value of C6 Z06's rise or fall in the future

I'm thinking the new Z will be expensive and that will in turn hold the value of our C6Z cars.

By the way, did your car have the "valve/head work" done?

I was thinking the same thing about the C7's in general staying high priced.

Mine has not had any valve/head work done. It is the first thing on my list to have the valve guides replaced though. That should happen in about a month

Hello sir,

I'm also in Houston, TX And would be more than happy to buy the tow hooks off you. (Personally that's the only thing that would bring the value down for me if I were looking at it on the show room.)

Also interested in some other parts, I have a 2008 Black Z06 and could swap/buy parts off you if you're interested.

*sorry just saw that you already have all your stock parts, so nevermind!

I'd still buy the tow hooks off ya

^^Sure. I am not sure if I am demodding yet. Send me a PM on what you're interested in. The car was never tracked or raced, it's just the show car.

What does CF think the car is worth stock?

I bought my 2009 Z06 3LZ in Dec 2012 for 52K, with 750 miles. So that's what an essentially brand new car goes for, and I thought a fair price.

However, while your Z is great looking, the single most important mod was never done...the valve guide issue wasn't addressed.

I'm not a valve doomsayer, I am a realist as it has to be addressed. Given you've got 18000 miles and you're owner #3 that would have been a priority, and it would hurt the car value in my eyes. Others are saying 41, sorry I'd be 38 to 39, as the valves would be job one on acquiring a 18000 mile LS7.

Again, no ding...it's beautiful. As I looked at cars in my purchase I found unfortunately that modding a car seems to be a really poor investment, as you can't get your money out of the car except by de-modding.

I had a fully modded Katech street attack (SN 46) ready to buy when a ...how do I say this nicely...when the owner with whom I had a placed a deposit and a plane ticket already bought....and an agreed on deal on an '08 Z06 2LZ with $137000 invested...for $62k.

However he welched on our CF posted done deal and sold the car for $65K...and I lost the money on my plane ticket. So you might imagine I'd be leery of CF inspired deals until I put my hand on the car.

That said - what's a fully modded car worth...in that case $0.50 on the dollar. Just a poor investment. Personally I'll be springing to have Katech do my mods, but I'm going to do the mods for the fun factor nothing else.

On the positive side I think Chevy will be at 100K plus for a full on Z06 Z07 so that will help our Z's hold their value.

I would think mid $40's even without the head work.....well the fact it's yellow might hurt it some...

As a general rule, stock sells quicker and usually better than modded. Since you retained all the stock parts and your estimate to restore the car to original is $1500, what do you estimate the difference to be between selling the stock parts and selling the mods you remove? And then throw the value of your time into the equation.

Just for reference, in Phoenix there currently is a bone stock '06 listed for a FIRM $42K with 28K miles for 3 months and no buyers. Another '06 with 36K miles and a mild cam, sold for under $40K in two weeks in late 2012.

It's all about the right person with the right interest at the time you are selling for any particular price. Either way, the next owner is more likely to be a driver rather than own a garage queen show car.
