Looking at an 07 Z06, questions....
Thinking about looking at and getting a very nice 07 z06, atomic orange. Mmmm... But its at a dealer and they said they have a corvette "specialist". Talked to him on the phone (dealer is 4.5 hours away) and asked him any problems with these cars. The generic oh no runs good, read me off the car fax basically (I already looked at it) saying about the oil changes and stuff like that. So then I asked about the valve guides wearing and dropping valves. " oh, I haven't heard of any of then doing that and I don't think this car has that problem cause it runs real good. No smoke or nothing" then after the call I thought, it wouldn't smoke cause the stem seals would still work good? Am I wrong? Plus how would a specialist in vettes not have heard of this? But anyway is there any good signs they are wobbling away in there when I look at it? I would take the heads off and check/send them away as soon as I go it home cause I don't need to be blowing up motors.
Plus what's a good price for one with 24k miles and basically stock.
Thanks
Edit: from looking at pictures and seeing what it has and researching, looks like it has the 3LT and 2LZ packages. So its fully loaded except for the nav... Which I liked the touch screen in my 05 but I can always put one in with a damn headphone jack since Chevy thought everyone only used CDs then...
Here's the car in question http://www.burlingtonchevy.com/Used-...NJ/vd/19600891

What are some good aftermarket heads and about what do they run for price? I never really thought about doing anything to the motor like that on my 05 in fear of blowing up my diff so I wouldn't know where to start looking haha

They want 45k... Seemed high to me to begin with. Might hold out if they don't come down in price. I want an atomic orange one and they arnt too common within 500 miles of here

They probably gave low 30's when they took it in on trade or got it at an auction. 45k is too much

Note it was a much better buyers market 6 m ago when you got yours for 40. Prices have gone up ... OP personally for 45k I'd go 08 for the better trans. 40 is the most I'd pay for an 07

A local Chevy dealer here sent me something in the mail the other day. They offered me 39k for my 08 Z06 with 16k miles if I traded for a new Chevy without even looking at my car. So if 39k is the wholesale price they are willing to pay Id say they would put it on their lot for anywhere from 45k-50k

Its funny I just joined this forum because now I'm fixated on buying a c6z and really can only afford an 06/07. Long story short I go to a car show and there is a corvette club there and I get to talking to a guy who owns an 07. He was clueless to the exhaust valve problem and I asked him if he was on this forum and he said no. Outside of this forum people are clueless to this issue yet there is concrete proof with detrimental affects.

Believe me it really doesn't hold me back, in fact already talked to my buddy who is a mechanic about doing it after I buy a Vette, just to be on the safe side. I saw online an 2006 Z with 90k miles for 32 grand. We started talking and if were doing the heads anyway what does 90 k really mean. I know it isn't the bottom end getting rebuilt but on the other hand that many miles and more then likely it was a highway cruiser for the most part.

Anyone who says there isn't a problem with these heads is clueless. This is not a Corvette Forum problem. It is a problem that even GM has acknowledged. Don't buy one unless you are ready to have the heads checked and reworked ......... period.

I like low miles. That's why my 05 had 11.5k on it but mainly cause it was exactly what I wanted and just so happen to have low miles. They said it comes with a 30 day or 1k mile warranty and can get an extended one too. I would be able to beat the **** out of it and not worry about buying a motor if it let's go haha
