Lingenfelter 660 package or ....? I'm looking for NA performance upgrades.
My warranty is almost up and I'm ready to squeeze some more power out of my LS7. However, I'm not very familiar with what's available so the only reputable installer I know is Lingenfelter. That's why I'm posting here so I can hear from the experts.
I really like the way the 660 package on the Lingenfelter sounds, but I'm concerned about how much the driveability is reduced. Please chime in if you have this installed on your Z06.
I've seen a couple of posts referring to Vette-Air and The Vette Doctors being able to get around 650 rwhp and 590 ft/lbs rwtq. That is really impressive. I would love numbers like that, but I haven’t really found any details on what’s involved or how much it costs. I think one of them might have had a custom aftermarket block, which I would prefer to avoid if possible. If anyone has one of these packages installed or could direct me to more information I would greatly appreciate it.
Basically I'm looking to spend less than 20K (this is not set in stone), be naturally aspirated (set in stone), able to run 93 octane, pass NC state inspections, keep the stock block, and have decent driveability since I like to drive my Vette year round.
Thanks,
Bodie

I think their are equally good and cheaper options then lingenfelter
Their GT21 cam in the 660 package has a lot of lift
Not sure what all is involved in NC state inspection, but that could be tough with a big cam NA build

You're going to have a difficult time finding great driveability from a N/A car with 650rwhp. Drop that number down 100 and you're more in the ballpark with driveability. Granted that term is relative and I'd recommend driving some big cam cars before you take the plunge. Peak numbers are great and all but if you don't enjoy driving the car it's kind of a waste.

Theres a couple of guys who claim to drive the GT21 Z all year (street/track etc.) and claims to have no issues. I guess it depends on your tolerance. GT21 idles great, and I'm sure it performs well in the upper RPMs, but thats really about it. Very hard on your valve train especially if you'll be driving it quite often.
Don't chase the numbers, and you can get a full build for 5-6k easily. Like Sublime said, drive a BIG *** cam car first, and go from there.

I think you can get equivalent, or better (relative to the person), performance out of putting your own parts together or using other kits rather than the Lingenfelter kit. I also agree that 702 lift in the long term is very difficult to conceive as reliable, but some last quite a while. Good luck and remember to enjoy the build!

Keep I. Mind that is only on 660 package where they use the gt21 can. There gt19 is used on the 630 package. Don't get me wrong, the idle is awesome and plenty of folks enjoy their kit but I'm glad I spec'ed my own stuff and got help on the cam.

That's an awful lot of horses. Where do you plan on using them.....somewhere on the high side of 3rd and 4th gear?
I have 550 rwh and had to get out of it in 3rd gear at the drags, because it was going away. I was running a street tire, tho...NT 05's.
I'm considering getting the NT O5R for my next tire buy for everyday driving.
I think, if we could plant the HP that the stock Z has and learn how to drive it....it's a hezz of a fast car.

I will have results using Fran's B3 cam in a few weeks from my winter build. Heard and seen great things and the car sounds beastly!

Can't go wrong with Katech or other reputable shops

As others stated, the LPE 19 and 21 cams use LSK lobes and are very high lift 688 to 700+. I recently had a GT19 cam until I realized that it wasn't a good choice for my application so I swapped it for a more moderate-lift cam with more duration.
Think about it for a bit before you make a decision and avoid the $2000 penalty for changing your mind like I did.
