Default Sending my car to Katech for heads / cam

Super excited to say that I finally took the plung to change the heads and cam. I was out of warranty for a few months before I really got the hint about the valve guide issue and rather than spend $500 on getting the heads checked (quoted from a local dealer in D-town), decided I might as well spend that money on getting a true race engine builder upgrade the car as this was my long term plan anyway to keep the car relevant / stop me from buying a new one. (I hate depreciation!) Jason from Katech has been great taking all of my phone calls and humoring me with all of my questions / concerns.

Anyway...wanted to share. Hopefully pics of the process to come soon.

Awesome. Can I ask what cam you are getting?

Sure. I'm probably going with the k501 cam. More power higher in the rpm range for the track versus the 110.

Bumping the compression at all? What gas are you going to run 91 or 93?

Looking forward for the results!

Wow, that is going to be cool. Please be sure to post a before and after, not just dyno, but how it feels and behaves, and sounds.

Are they going to check your heads when they get them off? The K501 looks similar to mine, I'm really looking forward to see how she performs!

Glad to see you're pulling the trigger Neil. You'll love the car after this is done. Talk to Jason about having the heads milled .030 or so, I have been super pleased with my Katech/WCCH setup for years now. I daily drive mine all summer in traffic with the AC on, then go drag 10's trapping 133, and track it usually burning through 2 tanks of gas each track day. I couldn't be happier.

Start thinking about a clutch too!

Heads and cam really transform the LS7...you will wish you had done it sooner. I will have to keep an eye out for your car in metro Detroit.

Congrats, you picked one of the best shops in the business to work with! Watch out though, it's a slippery sloap lol. My cars first visit to Katech was origionally just to get the valve issue taken care of and have a cam installed. What came back a few months later was a completely re-built car that was a sight to behold. Less than 12 months later the car was on it's way back to Katech again and now it's a 700+hp fire breathing dragon that runs down 911 GT3 Cup cars on the track like they are standing still lol!
