They are doing their standard Katech Stage II build, went with the K501 cam. I will be running the Akrapovic full ti system that has been on the car for a couple years. Good luck on your build, looking forward to the results.

cruzin2, how many miles on your car?

Glad to see you got it in for work before those guides caused you any issues. Looking forward to seeing the final results!

Yes, sir.

Also, some of the worst offenders were intake valves which supports our statement that it's the seat-to-guide concentricity and not a specific problem with the OEM exhaust valve.

Pretty consistent with everything we've seen so far in terms of data, thanks for sharing.

Look at the bottom of intake #6, yikes!

Although @ 88K miles none of my valves were out of spec the intakes were the worst and just on the border of being out.

We are seeing more and more real data that supports your satatement that the primary culprit is the lack of concentricity between valve seat and guide.

In time, given the use bronze guides and S.S. valves, no doubt they would also fail if the interface was not concentric, might take a little longer, but fail they would

I believe we can also conclude that re-worked OEM heads, that have sustained lot's of mileage and/or track time without guide wear, have addressed the machining problem that GM's vendor is responsible for.

When you install bronze guides you do a valve job anyways, so the guide-to-seat concentricity would be fixed.

Yes the intakes sure were the smoking gun. Something that has yet to be refuted.

Car is still at katech. After I found that the lifters and cam had some scaring on them at only 5 track days and 9000 miles, I decided to add a full ARE system to the build. Looks like I was pushing the car harder than I thought on cup tires. Car should be ready by end Of April.

Sorry to hear about the cam and lifter scaring found during your build. Better now than later. the ARE system will take care of that issue. Cup tires most certainly caused your Gs to increase bigtime. Cant wait to see the results next month. Hope to see you at track attack
