Default Stalker Cam installed

I've been threatening a head upgrade and cam install for a few months....well yesterday I drove down to Ragin Racin...it was ready.
I couldn't believe how much louder it was. It hits very hard and a blast to drive. The Stalker is 224/246..115, which would not be a very big cam to most....but it is as much as I want.
I can't believe how much attention that the car gets. You pull into anywhere someone is standing around......they are going to say something about how it sounds.
The first credit card I gave him for payment...no go. On the way back home I got a call from the fraud department from that c/c telling me that some yahoo was trying to use my card, way down in Louisiana. I explained....it was me. Thank goodness I had another card. No sweat...I could have sold some of my wife's shoes and got out of there and had some change left.
Come on Hot Springs Corvette Weekend....I'm ready. Randy will be there, also.

Randy at Ragin Racin did a great job.

I'll try and list most of what was done to the car.

It started with a Stage IV Stalker Cam upgrade.
The exhaust valves were replaced with Ferrea Valves and Guides
Hand ported heads
Shaved .37...compression ratio of 11.8
New push rods
New Crane lifters
APR Stud Kit
Comp Cams Trunion upgrade
Of course...it got all the valve springs & retainer were replaced
Intake valves were reused.
I did not ask for a measurement of my valves.
Melrose Coated Headers were installed with their X Pipe. I kept the stock axle back.
Randy installed Holley Valve Covers....so I no longer have the fuel rail covers, which I wasn't a big fan of, anyway.

I already had a ported intake (Jeremy's stage 2) & TB
KillerB II CIA
Vette Air

I have 3 dyno sheets with a different smoothing.

Uncorrected....572 Hp...520 torque
Std....567/516
SAE....551/501

I'm very satisfied with the numbers.

Larry

How close to stock drivability would you say this cam is?

I ran an almost identical setup and drive ability was excellent. I came from the lethal cam which gave up a little torque down low. This cam made up for it and still made good power. I think it was also 570 on 91 but with the fast 102 setup

It drives great. The only thing I have noticed is when you get off the gas and slowing down it will buck quicker than it use to, but I expect something different with a cam. No bucking while excelerating and you can pull the same RPM's in the gears, just like stock.
The main thing.....with the headers and cam.....it's waaay louder than stock while it's idling. I can see my car 'rock' some while I'm setting at a red light. At 60 MPH I can't tell much difference in the exhaust sound....at 70 I can hear it. Now, this is with the NPP closed. With it open...it's a different world.
I was pulling into get gas, and as I pulled off the hywy I clutched it and just coasted into the pumps. I was probably 75 yrds from the tanks, and a few guys almost walked into the building looking back at me coming.
For the guys that have run cams for a long time....this is nothing unusual to them, but to me it's a different world, and I kinda like it.
My wifes says.....I need to check is see if all the spark plug wires are on.

Nice numbers. Randy did the same cam and some supporting mods for me early last year and my numbers came out 558/522. Very consistent cam!! The power over 3K rpm is simply incredible…..Love how smooth the cam goes as the rpm climbs. The exhaust note is also fantastic once the baffles open!!

Enjoy! I don't drive mine enough, but the drivability is fine.

My car has a similar set up as well.

Stalker cam, milled heads. Some other things but close!

Glad you like it, I cammed a ls1 12 years ago and have not had one UN-cammed since haha

I love my stalker cam. Great power and drivability is excellent. It's really smooth power that's always there.

Enjoy the solid build you have now Larry

Stalker will give up a bit of low end torque to the 110 but make up for it above 6k rpm. The stalker is on a 115 LSA so it is much smoother to drive. Less "bump and shake" or surging.
