Stock Bottome End Z06 Goes a 9...I'm stoked!
Well, I'm pretty pleased to report that my car dipped into the 9s. After some tuning and amazing work by the guys at Leading Edge Performance I finally got an opportunity to spray the car at the track to see what it would do.
As luck would have it, the last chance of the year here was during the National Import Face-off. It was actually advertised on their website to please bring out your domestic muscle so the import cars would have something to beat on.
After sitting in the staging lanes for five and half hours, getting ridiculed by at least 1,000 import drivers telling me my crappy domestic corvette would be nice fodder for their real race cars, I finally got to make a pass. Now I have to tell you, I was a little intimidated and nervous since I had been hearing all about the low 10 second eclipse that has beat countless Z06's that I would be lining up against.
Anyway...being in Vegas I decided to roll the dice and take my import beating like a man. The car didn't leave real hard so the 60' time is nothing to brag about. However, the car pulled super hard once it got moving and went a 9.9 at over 144mph. This got me kicked off the track immediately for going too fast. Not a bad way to go if you have to leave I guess.
I tried to talk to the guy in the 10 second, Z06 eating Eclipse but he was nowhere to be found after our pass. I guess he got kicked out too. After-all, I drove the car to the track, let some air out of the tires, made my pass, went a 9 at almost 145mph, put air in the tires and drove it home while getting 27mpg each way all on the stock bottom end.
Needless to say I am extremely pleased with the car. I know there's a 9.5 - 9.7 in the car with a better 60' time but I'm happy. Thanks to Leading Edge Performance for an amazing car and thanks to the Import guys for letting me come out and play.

Even when we were testing the car prior to making a full pass the car always hooked. Actually it hooked to good and kept bogging on me. Amazing tires. Crazy thing was the track was crap from all the oil-downs the import guys had and they still hooked and kept the car straight as an arrow the whole way down.

So the Z06 eating Eclipse ran a 12.4?

LOL Yup! After all the garbage I took all day sitting in the staging lanes that was some serious poetic justice. That's a tough crowd if your a domestic guy. I had to listen to all of them for well over 5 hours. It was fun telling them that I was hoping for a mid to low 13.

Thanks everyone. I'm super happy with the car. If I can, I'm going to sneak back in to the track and try to get another pass in. I know with a decent 60' time the car is capable of a 9.5 or 9.6. We'll see but I'll keep you all posted.
