Default Head/cam/intake+tb port

I recently decided to take my 07 Z06 to the next level, I had an 06 1lz car that I had big plans for but decided to sell because I was sick of dealing with the black paint. I recently acquired a 1 owner VY Z with 7k miles and I decided it was time to turn her up a notch. I've since added an air-raid CAI, kooks 1 7/8 headers with OR Xpipe, LG man switch, and LS7r cam package. This cam really woke the car up, if I remember correctly we picked up over 68 rwhp after tuning, final numbers were 561/501. I've since ordered a set of PRC 285cc heads from my buddies at TSP . I know many sprung for the 265cc instead but I really want to have the best flow I can get incase I decide to strap a small shot of gas! I wanted to see if any of you are running similar setup and what kind of power you are making. My goal is 600rwhp but I'm pretty sure a serious intake/ throttle body port is gonna be needed to net anything in the 600 range . Let me know your thoughts gentleman ...

Nice numbers. What are the specs on the LS7R?

TSP website says...

248/256 .662"/.648" 114+3 (with 1.8 rockers)

Sounds like a pretty "big" cam, how is drive-ability?

While the ported stocker will get you some power, many on here will tell you you are going to need the FAST, actually probably a ported FAST to get to the "Magic" 600 #.

I am sure someone that is a search guru could find a thread talking about gains from ported stock to ported FAST. Good luck in your quest.

We are still working on drivability issues, any driving under 2k rpm is a little painful due to the cam surge but overall it runs good. I will post my gains with the head swap tuning is complete.

I think 285s are still a bit big for a stock bottom end heads/cam car. I have them on my car but I'm craming 18+psi through them.

I would agree if I wasn't planning to spray the car in the future, ill probably loose a bit under the curve but 4500 and up should be interesting

From what ive read/seen, the Fast gives you a pretty good torque gain throughout the curve, and maybe 5-10 rwhp up top. Also with a ported stock intake, the numbers ran pretty close.

I guess if #s are the thing that is being chased, then evrything and anything helps.

Nice you just answered my question. What do you think needs to be adjusted to get the surging/bucking out? OR is this innevitable?

With a cam that big, there is not going to be away around surge/bucking down low.

Well figured it was inevitable. There goes that idea. Nice #s OP. Hopefully you get it as close to stock driving as possible. Who cruises at 1500 rpms anyway. Lol

I gained almost 40rwhp and 35 torque switching from a max ported OE intake/WCCH stage 2's to a Darin Morgan ported Heads and FAST 102/102 setup. The midrange showed a lot of improvement too.

Not hard to justify that cost.

Maybe the heads made a huge difference.. I agree with the torque, but not 100% sold on the HP gains.

Ha! Then you never will be.

You spend how much on a car and complain about a $900 intake manifold... that's proven. I can speak from experience, can you?

Show me 2 posts where real Vette owners (not some shop that sells porting services) gain less then 10rwhp switching from an OE to a FAST intake. I'll be surprised if you can muster that up.

Who's complaining about 900$. I could care less about peak hp. If you want bragging rights on a dyno, then by all means chase those number.

I'm guessing everyone is upgrading to larger injectors too, I'm wondering what my duty cycle is gonna look like with the new heads and a new free flowing intake manifold

I'm excited to see the results. Did you ever get any of the surgering under control from <2000 rpms?
