[Z06] What should I realistically pay for a Z06?

What should I realistically pay for a Z06?
Hi all, hope this thread is in the right place.
Looking to buy an 06-09 Z06, but pricing is all over the place and I'd like to get a good ballpark for what I should be paying. I'm here in SoCal so perhaps prices are a bit higher, so keep that in mind.
I've got about $40k cash sitting around but I wouldn't mind spending $33-36k even if it means an older 06-07 Z06. Most people are pricing their Z06's at $42-50k which is just ridiculous for an '06-09 with 40k+ miles, or am I wrong?
Any help or input would be very welcome.

Prices will be all over the place. There are "deals" to be had, but they are purchased very quickly (as you would expect). If you are serious about getting a deal, you need to be very patient. Took me just over 3 months to find my "deal".... and mine really wasn't a deal. After I installed the Borla, tinted the windows, powder coated the wheels, bought rear tires, etc...... I was right where I would've been.
Check ebay, you can sort the search to show you "sold listing". This will give you an idea of the deals that have been had or what others are paying. I just did a quick search and found several sold for around $35K.
Contact the sellers to see if they will end the auction and sell the car outside of ebay. This is very advantageous to them.... ebay charges them $125 for any qualifying bid and a "final value fee". Also, ebay states "you'll be charged a successful listing fee regardless of whether you carry out the sale with the buyer."

Between NADA Average Trade-In and NADA Clean Trade-In. NADA is online.
eBay is either dealers just advertising or private sellers who are desperate. Proceed with caution and don't even think about bidding on something you haven't seen. IMHO, NADA has all the pricing info you need... I priced and offered on several cars using their figures and was always very close to what they sold for... hi and lo miles.

This one sold a couple months back (actually one I was watching, just too far). I just ran the autocheck and it is clean. I would've bought that car in a second. There are deals to be had, patience is the key.
Don't discount ebay, just search within a certain distance to your house and go take a look at it before you bid (just like any car buying experience). Good luck.

Good question. Keep your eyes open. There are deals to be had. You have a wide range listed with 06-09 but on average I think a high(er) mileage '06 would list for mid 30s, a low mile '09 though would probably list for upper 40s.

Listen to these guys. I went to the dealer to get the car appraised since I'm considering stepping up and they only offered me 37k. Granted my 09 C/G has 45k miles on it, but the appraiser straight up told me the car was worth more than he could offer me and I was better off selling out right. I was considering asking 45. Just watch the for sale section and wait for someone to be hurting for money.

Words of advise there is a lot of salvage Z06s out there and I was nearly burned on two of them before I found the car I wanted that wasn't wrecked or without high miles. I just heard of a guy selling a 2010 Z06 WITH 23K MILES FOR 30.000.00......If this car isn't wrecked I'm going to buy it also and resell it. The car is red. I will keep everyone posted. I'm just not a fan of red cars or trucks.

Realistically you are WAY low on what the Z06 is worth. Ah yes the 2014 C7 is out the prices must be falling like a rock...Nope.
Of course year, mileage and condition are going to play a roll in any deal you find.
My 2008 is still listed at $48-51 on the blue book sites. Could I get that? Probably not, but it won't sell for $40k either. Probably the $44-46k range, but I have low miles and a rare/desirable color.
I recommend hunting the 2006 maybe a 2007. My buddy just let is 2007 go for $43k with 20k miles, tasteful mods and the head fix done.
Good luck.

They've ('06, '07) been going on this forum for mid 30's with mods for over a year now. The good deals sell (deposit) same day most of the time, so if youve really got the money be ready to drop the hammer. I missed about 6 good deals before I "jumped". Be patient and be serious...know what you want and jump on it when it shows up

I personally was willing to pay the $50k for my 08' Z, fully loaded 2LZ with 11K miles. My car is immaculate with a few tasteful upgrades. It books at $52k but I wouldn't sell it. I could have paid $33k for my buddies white 07' Z but didn't like the fact it had 40K miles on it.
I would think the "deals" are out there you just have to keep an eye out and be ready to purchase before the next guy gets the deal.

E85Evo a new z06 is 100k so if you dont want to give 40k for a used one get a Miata they are much cheaper.Reverse the roles ,if you d be selling your used z06 would you let it go for 32k?I didnt think so.People like you are the reason i strickly sell wholesale ,specifically not to put up with time wasting tire kickers that have no intention of buying anything only to waste people s time. You can have a c5 z06 in the twenties maybe thats what you should do.

Somebody has anger issues...and issues with reality ($100k???). Everyone wants the C6Z to be a collector car, but it won't be for at least another 20 years. In the meantime, the value will tank just like it has with the C5Z (which was the baddest thing on the block back in '04) before it rebounds, if it rebounds.
There are a few that are pointing you in the right direction. Figure out how you want to use the car first. If you want a car to enjoy, fix it when it breaks, damn the miles, then look for the lowest price car in good shape that you can find and drop the hammer when you find it. You should find one in the low to mid 30's. If you try to sleep on it, it will be gone. If you want a garage queen afraid to break it car, then you'll pay about 5k-10k more for it.
The "nay-sayers" are only making themselves feel good by protecting their "investment".

If dealer is giving $40k, then private party value has to be somewhere well north of $40k.
Don't ask me why, I wouldn't pay $40K+ for a 6-7 year old chevrolet especially knowing what i know about the LS7.
And my credit union is offering 1.74% on used cars, but they won't go too long of a term on a 7 year old car. I think their normal limit is 5 years, but they do go longer on luxury/exotic cars like the Z.

I have an 06 Z. 45k miles. I would not sell it for less than 40k. I looked for 2 years before I found what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. Trying to find one in the low to mid 30's is going to be hard.

The bank refi tells the story
My buddy just refi'd his 06Z last year... 30K miles or so...and the bank went 45K on the car! I was stunned given its an 06. I'm not surprised low mileage Z's are getting 40K. I noticed the prices on the Z's started RISING in 2010 after I bought my low mileage Z. Mine is an 07 with 18K miles and I bought from the dealer at like 49 or 50K. Mind you that was 3 years ago exactly.
