First time running at the drags in over 10 years
Before today my last run was April 2003 with my brand new Zinc Yellow 2003 Cobra.
I ran at MIR today, with a local track rental group. Track prep wasn't quite up to par. They ended up putting too much water in the burnout box, with no drive around for the drag radial guys, like myself. I got one run in when the box was almost out of water. Once out of the hole all was fine.
I gave about 70% of the mustang boyz a good **** whippin'!
There were about 35 mustangs, a couple other blown Fords and 4 Chevys. I was the only Vette... Got a lot praise from the Mustang guys. They all were class acts.
BTW... I'm lucky number 13, on the left...

Personally, I think it's the Torquer 110 that's holding me back. It definitely drops off on the top end. I've got 97K on the short-block (and car). When I pull my motor in the future for a complete refresh I'll swap cams for Katech's K501. I'll pull the stainless exhaust valves and go with a set of Ti exhaust, along with a head "refresh" and a red-line reset (7400 rpm).
I built the car for 100% street, hence the Torquer 110. It's definitely not the "optimal" cam for drag racing.

Congrats Dave, very good results. I thought about going but yesterday was my B-Day and there were a few family obligations to take care of. The weather was perfect for you. Maybe next time.

If you take a look at my time slip with it about a year ago at MIR, they are similar, the difference is in the 60ft times. Your 1.553 vs my 1.693.
I trapped 128.87 with the Katech Torquer cam, and basically the same other modifications you have.
Neither of us had much seat time when the passes referenced were run, you with better than a 10 year hiatus, and myself with very few miles on my setup and a new clutch, so I am sure that this might have something to do with it as well.
But no, the torquer is definitely not the cam for drag racing, it won't give you the top end on the drag strip that some of the other cams will give you. It's big advantage is low end torque.
Maybe I overlooked it, but I don't see how the Katech K501 would be much better on a drag strip either.
Confused garage has managed 130.81 and mentions another instance of 132.xx.
On a side note, the drag strip record for the Katech Torquer appears to be 10.672 @132.14

Fastest trap speed I've been able to get out of it has been 129.57.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments and praise!!
It's now time to move on and sell the tires and wheels. I accomplished what I wanted to, to see what the car and I could do...
The tires and wheels are now listed in the classified section.
