I have a question. I don't really see any (maybe a few) HRE chrome wheels. Is that because they're out of style or is it that chroming wheels weaken them to some extent?

Several reasons. HRE is performance first thus chrome is heavy and adds unnecessary weight. Secondly chrome oxidizes and thus brake dust, road debris etc etc all eat away at it. So if someone wants chrome we tell them we can do full polished with clear coat. Expensive but much more durable and looks identical to chrome without all the negatives associated with chrome

Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply but no they are certainly not identical to chrome from my perspective (looking at your posts). Back to my question, does chroming reduce the strength of the wheels?

Full polished clear, you can't tell its not chrome. And again with high performance wheels why would you add the heaviest finish. As far as strength we don't recommend chrome on our performance wheels. The benefits of chrome are purely aesthetic and same can be achieved with polished/clear.

If you have any other questions you can PM us,

Thanks,

Nice picture. Correct me if I'm wrong. The one on the left looks like chrome and the one on the right looks polished. If they're both polished then your right polished does look like chrome.

We always have wheels going on the Z's but mostly the popular setups like the HRE P40SC's mainly. Any of the wheels we can do on the C6 Z's and there are indeed a few new wheels that just came out in the RS series

HRE Classic Series

We've taken a look back at our history and picked five styles to refresh with a modern twist; introducing the Classic Series. We found inspiration in iconic sports cars like the Ferrari 512TR, Porsche 964, BMW E36 M3, Acura NSX and even German wagons like the W124 Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The new Classic line debuts with five new styles including the 300 mesh, the 301 split-9-spoke, the 303 13-spoke, the 305 5-spoke and the 309 19-spoke. The Classic line is available in diameters ranging from 18 to 22 inches and widths range from 7 to 14 inches. Features include a modern conical profile with clean and simple spoke designs that highlight the style of wheels and cars before the domination of modern era of automation and electronics. This simplicity in the designs also allows HRE to offer these wheels at prices that are significantly lower than their more complex designs. For more information, visit www.hrewheels.com or email us at info@hrewheels.com.

Thanks for posting . I have wondered the same.I have the stupid dream that some day a set of polished P40S are going to be on my Z51 DSOM. They just seem to be the perfect wheel fo the C6. Also what do you mean by conical? Thx

Conical means concave my friend. And the P40 and P40s are older lines and not sure if HRE will still be making them further
