I wouldn't worry about rocker arms. You'll hear a lot of exaggerated horror stories on here. So, prepare yourself!

I honestly don't feel this is a good place to ask if you should buy a Z06 haha.

Do some research, look around, buy what you WANT, color wise. I went with two choices, yellow or atomic orange. Wound up with yellow. Be patient and first thing you must do, replace the exhaust valves. If you don't want to its your choice. I did mine the second day I owned it. It a great piece of mind. Then drive drive drive it.

The only thought you should have is "which one WILL I buy!" I purchased a 2007 in August after a 2 year search to find what I was looking for, love every minute of driving it, washing it, and looking at it!

Heck if you are planning on spending 45 get an 08 or better yet an 09.

Better tranny in 08 and better dry sump system in 09. And a patient look around the US (this forum and others) will get you in a later model than that likely with still some warranty left or some mods you might like.

My fiancé and I purchased a blue one, bc she loved the color and we rarely see it. It was black/Red/yellow everywhere. Took us a long time til we found the LeMans Blue. When you do buy, check the clutch fluid and make sure it's not black. If it is tell them to flush it. There's your occasinal exhaust valve issue, but that's a small fraction. Enjoy the car. HUGE upgrade from your srt4 to the Z.

Don't hold your breath. Z06 and ZR1 owners are not the target market for the C7 as it exists today.

There has been a number of failures due to the head of the exhaust valve breaking off and destroying the engine. A smaller number of intake valve heads have also fallen off and destroyed engines. There is no definitive cause of the failures although the valve guides are the main suspects. A number of people have rebuilt their heads with bronze valve guides and stainless steel exhaust valves while some have just replaced the valve guides with bronze guides and used stock exhaust valves. If you do a search there are multiple extensive discussions of these issues on the forum. The stock engine in my 08Z was one of the ones that had to be replaced under warranty due to the exhaust valve head breaking off.
