Those exhaust guides were in pretty bad shape Mario.

12,000 miles and the exhaust guides were shot like that, it's doubtful that you would have made it to 100,000 miles on those.

Wow that bad after 12k miles on an 06? Any idea the history of the car before you owned it? I have 16k miles on my 06 and thought I had some time left. Apparently not!

I purchased from an older gentleman local to me. He stated car was never driven hard.

When I went thru the car the clutch fluid was black and very low, rear sway bar bolts half way backed out, end links shot, roof bolts from recall snapped and the guides. He said it was maintained at the dealer.

When you buy used you never really know. I feel I got a good deal and sorted it all out now.

I am not happy to that I had to replace the heads at 12k miles but its cheaper than an engine at 50k miles.

Those are all normal issues. I would almost expect black clutch fluid, a loose sway bar bolt, and roof issues on any 06-07 z06 (same issues on laters besides roof).

Good luck. Just goes to show you there is almost no such thing as doing it too early.

Bad experiences with shops are why I do my own work now. The only places I would trust with my car are ECS & RKT56.

Thank you sir!

OP, good luck with the fix, it's not uncommon even at your mileage.

Default Progress Pics

Heads arrived from WCCH.

Some pics of the engine and misc photos the shop sent me. Cylinders looked great, lifters had some wear and I had them check the cam for wear, it was good.

With that said, they are going to do a heart transplant for me just to make sure those C7s stay where there supposed to.

Default Cam Selection

I forgot that the Cam is being spec'd out by Sean their Engine Builder. I asked for a street enhancer. I'm looking for torque off the line and thru the rpm range. My last car had a custom cam from Sean and it was delicious.

I would also like to thank Justin their Master Technician for the photos and mechanical acuity while working on my Z.

I wont know the specs for a couple days and I wont release the exacts out of respect to the industry but ill give the generics out.

Did you get your heads back that fast or did you post this up after the heads were already off and gone?

Just wanted to update this thread.

Got back in and finally got to drive the beast. Originally car made 444 RWHP & 419 RWTQ.

VA Speed installed my reworked WCCH, SS Valves, non milled, non ported heads. Shawn Miller spec'd me a Custom Cam and we added a ATI 10% UD Pulley. That's it. Stockish.

Justin installed all components flawlessly and tuned it to perfection. Car idles at 725. Drives like stock, no bucking, no surging, nothing. The cam specs wont be published but I can tell you its smaller than Katechs 116.

The car laid down 497RWHP & 457 RWTQ. I'm going to get some miles in tomorrow but I know i'll need those R888s come spring. 400ft lbs at 2k rpm.
