07 Z box options/opinions
t56 is almost due for retirement due to a ysi setup. stock motor. im goin to do a erl bottom end n more boost n chase approx 1k rwhp. i like autos n big converters. they just sound tuff cruising n good at the drags. its not a drag car but tuff streeter. what box options have i got and rough cost of the conversion. just not sure i want to molester a Z with an auto unless it looks like its suppose to be in there. tr6060 conversion or a glide my only options for 1000-1100whp?

There are plenty of options. 4L80E would be my top choice. Expect to pay $13-15k for the conversion but you can sell a lot of your factory stuff to recoup some cost. You can also do a TH400 but won't have an overdrive if you highway drive a lot that can be a pain.
Auto swaps look factory. Can't tell anything is different. Use a 2005 4 speed corvette shifter and it looks all factory.

Glides are ~$9k or so. ECS sells them. That is just the tranny/etc. Still need to buy a converter, shifter, etc. http://www.eastcoastsupercharging.co...ategory_id=168
$8100 for tranny, + converter/shifter. The 4L80 I was quoted was $13.5k in parts but that was built tranny, flex plate, converter, torque tube, shaft, axles, everything from motor back.
4L80 is the way to go. Drives great, can run 8s all day, and drive home.

Well if you go auto you can sell your stock tranny for $1500, etc. So it may not be that much. PG is great for track only car but for street, no thanks. 6 speed you still have clutch, hydralics, etc. Pain in the butt and hard to run good times.
