Well my zo6 decided to drop a valve and blow a piston and a hole in my block. So im in debate im fixing to order an LSX block but dont know if too go with a 427 again or a 440. I plan on building an all motor car with maybe a little nos any suggestions?

You're new here, but you're going to get some questions about your car...year, mileage, stock or modified, how many owners, ever been tracked, where were you driving when said valve failure occured? I'm sure others will chime in as well...

go with a 440. And put a Mopar decal at the top of the windshield and a "super commando" decal on the plastic engine covers.

If you are staying all motor then stay alum. 427 or 434 works good. No reason to add the weight for a 1500+hp block to make 900-1000. Most LS7 builds are intake manifold limited so the extra cubes just seem to add more low end torque.

Guess now just kinda not as trusty on the aluminum block i mean i know it was the valve but just seems kinda week for me. The thing was i was waiting on my heads to come in and i would have probably been ok but it happend a day early before i got my heads talk about bad luck. I ordered black label mas heads with stainless valves i have the fast 102 intake already also just wanted to go with a bigger bottom and stronger bottom end that will withstand the nitrous just for a peice of mind i guess.

Another modded Z06 bites the dust. Sorry for your loss.

What kind of lift on the cam? Which springs were you using? No other head work done?

So you had a higher lift cam with dual springs using stock exhaust valves? Who in Houston recommended that ticking time bomb?

Bear in mind also since you plan to run nitrous that I have seen more than one instance of piston failure associated with spraying. If you want to have that extra insurance, forge the bottom end. Call Joe at G&G Performance Engines in Tomball once you get the pieces together. He built mine.

Good luck.

Ya, cause stock Z06's are destroying valves

We don't hear about alot of the stock failures because many of them are not posted !
Worn out valve guides is the problem, an aftermarket higher lift cam only accelerates the problem. It doesn't generate it.
I would think u would of understood this buy now !

Oh I see... so the stock failures you are calculating as a supporting argument are based on vapor... Good research...

Clark ill give you the benefit of the doubt that you don't read many of the drama threads on this forum. If you had you would see my position is quite clear and I have stated about 6 million times already that the mods accelerate the problem and are not the CAUSE of the problem. Please point to a single post where I have stated otherwise. I figured by now you would have comprehended this.

Going by what we have on this forum for failures, which is ALL we have to use as a statistical average, MODDED Z06's make up the majority of ZO6 failures. Not stock. Its not even close either. I think you are confusing guide wear threads with fail threads on stock cars.

Either way let me know if you need any more help or further clarification on my position. But please PM me and don't mess up the guys thread with your personal rants directed at me.
