Buying a new low profile floor jack - Recommendations?
Hey guys:
I'm looking at two low profile floor jacks at the moment. I'm looking for something low profile so I don't have to drive up on blocks of wood anymore. I have 4" of ground clearance on the side skirts of my car so these both should work. This is what I have found as of right now. What do you guys think?
3 ton Heavy Duty Floor Jack with Rapid Pump®
Pittsburgh Automotive - item#61253
$74.99 - on sale

======================================== =
Arcan Quick Lift Professional Service Jack — 3 1/2-Ton, Model# XL35
$159.99

Also any other recommendations that are not extremely expensive, obviously I want something reliable, it could be life and death.
One more thing, I'm looking for very reliable jack stands but again I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for them either. What do you guys have? I prefer the pin style as they seem safer.
Thanks!

Do a little searching, there's a few threads on it. This site is good too

I just got my ATD jack from amazon this week. More expensive than the ones you list but I don't buy cheap tools that ill depend on, much less trust my life with(although briefly). It's one hell of a beefy jack and crazy low.
I use the style of jacks without the pin. They support my silverado 2500 so the vette is no problem.

Several of us track rats use Harbor Freight low-profile aluminum jacks; they are usually $70. I've used one for over six years, average one track day a month, and change to track tires, then back to street tires in the paddock, never had a problem.
The same jack sees home duty when I do maintenance on track car and all my other cars, so it's been pretty robust.

I've got two of these jacks and they work great. While you are there, pick up a set of their Aluminum jack stands.

I'm getting this one. It's the same as the omega mentioned in that link but cheaper.
This thread has a good pic of the dimensions of this jack compared to the $600 AC hydraulics jack.

I have the Omega very worth the cost especially getting under the front of the car. Just bought American Forge Foundry Cross Beam adaptor to go with this as well.

Do you mind using two jacks, one on each side?
If so that one will work, just buy two and buy or make jacking pucks
If you truly need to lift from the front, you could still lift one sore for clearance and then lift in center front.

I bought two from Harbor Freight tool. About $70 a piece and they are low enough to get under my lowered Z. Had not had a problem. Regardless of how much they cost I always use jack stands.

I have an OTC low profile with their stands. 6 years with no problems. I use it a lot so I went for a little more expensive jack. Actuator has never leaked.

I have the ATD jack. I do a ton of side work on cars. It works great on the vette or anything else I ever use it for. Highly recommended

I have this one from Harbor Frieght and use it all the time and it is great. Best part is it is lower than most all other jacks on the market.
