Best (height) tire with 4.10's
I know tire threads are beat to death, but I've searched quite a bit and am almost more confused than when I started out. I've been running nitto nt555r's in the 305/35R/18 for awhile. I'm looking for a stickier tire now. I only drive the Z on the street, but it is very "spirited" driving, if you will. I like the corners, so a slick or bias tire is out of the question. I also would like fairly good high speed stability. I am going to be switching to 4.10 gearing as well. The main question here is: Should I stick with the 26.4 tire height? or perhaps go to a 27.5 height? Width comes into play, however, as the MT et street radial II's I'm looking at come in a 345/35R/18 (14" section width and 13" tread width) and I don't know if I'll have scraping problems with the rear brake ducts if I do go that wide?
So, in conclusion, do I want a taller tire with the 4.10's? if so, at what width will I encounter problems?
If anyone cares to state their opinion on brand/model as well…….., what is my best bet for street/"quick bursts"/higher speed tire?
- MT et street radial II (305/35R/18 OR 345/35R/18) 27.5" tall 13.9" wide
- M&H drag radial (325/40R/18) 28" tall 13" wide
- Hoosier D.O.T. drag radials (335/30R/18) 26.2" tall 13.2" wide
- Nitto NT05R (315/40R/18) 28" tall 12.6" wide
Thanks for the help guys!!
NOTE: Mods are: LG street longtubes, catless x pipe, intake tune. Put down 380 rwhp. Stock suspension.

What car do you have? EDIT: I see you have a C5 Z06, better to check in the C5 forum than the C6-Z06 forum. With 380 RWHP it can't be a C6 Z06. My stock C6 Z06 dyno'd at 469 RWHP on a dyno that reads high, but typical numbers are 440. Even Mustang dyno numbers are in the 420 range.
Also, 4.10's are not available in the C6 Z06 dif case although RPM does build a strong C6 case with 4.10's good to around 650 RWHP.
It sounds like your interest is primarily straight line rather than cornering?

My fault, Somehow I accidentally posted this in the C6 section instead of the C5. Sorry guys. Its 50-50 cornering and straight line. i don't want a street slick with soft sidewalls etc… thats why I was looking at the radial tires and couldn't decide out of the ones I listed

Handling will be decent and straight line acceleration will be okay if you modulate the throttle.
As for the tire height and profile, that is also a compromise. Straight line acceleration from a dig requires much more sidewall than cornering. Do not go to a tall tire as this will negate the effects of the 4.10s. Stick around the 26" size. An 18" rim will help handling but hurt launching when compared to a 17" rim.
BTW- The Hoosier DR is one of the very best 1/4 mile tires out there; however, if you get caught in the rain, you may crash.
