Shop for installing sound insulation?
Hi guys
Thinking of installing a sound insulation kit from exotic vettes (http://www.exoticvette.com/insulation%20c6.htm) or Second Skin (http://store.secondskinaudio.com/corvette-package-1/). I wanted to ask if anyone in the San Diego or Orange County area had it installed at a shop?
I know its a 4-8 hour DIY job but I am not too confident in my DIY skills and would rather prefer to pay a professional to do it.
Would local audio shops be able to pull this off?

I'm glad your asking this as I need this done as well in the same area but don't want to do it unless its a good shop that I know does good work. Maybe we can get a deal if we both get them done from the same shop...

Awesome .What kit did you decide on? I am torn between Second Skin and the exoticvettes kit.

It appears that the only thing pulled apart are the seats console and interior panels. That is not a big job if you have the Helms manual and a reasonable set of tools.
It looks like Exotic has a precut kit, lighter & cheaper.....I have no idea of the relative effectiveness.
They, Exotic, also have instructions, so if they will send those to you first you can get an idea of what the work is.
However, it also appears that someone that knows how to pull the interior and get it back together could do it easily. So a good stereo installation shop would also be a good source.
If you come to Carlsbad Cars and Coffee I would love to see how quiet it is after the install.
My ghetto solution to noise was to buy a truckers Blue Parrot XL Bluetooth headset. But that doesn't address the heat insulation part.

The Exotic Vettes kit looks promising. When I was looking a while back there were quite a few companys that made precut kits but IIRC the EV kit was one of the best and is really reasonable.

I did it myself. Took me 3-4 hours, mostly because I did not buy a kit, but bought insulation and had to cut it to size, plus I took my time. Rear carpet comes out in two pieces...simple. Remove seats (4 bolts, disconnect wiring). Console comes apart pretty easy, no need to completely remove it.

It isn't that bad of a job to do it yourself. Hardest part is getting the door sills off without cracking them and even the professional can do that as it depends on how tight the sill mounting clips fit into frame and not who takes them apart.
