Default I Think I Finally Decided on my Build...

Been going back and forth on fixing the head issue and getting some more performance out of my Z06.

I have very minimal performance mods to date but plenty of visual upgrades. :

Current Performance Mods
(o) Halltech CF102 with Beehive.
(o) Akrapovic exhaust

So here is my list. Am I missing anything? Anything overkill or not worth the $$$?

1) Fast 102 Intake - custom painted by Katech (already purchased)
2) Katech custom painted cast aluminum valve covers (already purchased)
3) Katech coil relocation kit (already purchased)
4) Katech Billet fuel rails and installation kit (already purchased)
5) MSD spark plug wires (already purchased)
6) MAP sensor extension harness (already purchased)
7) Pfadt Headers with catted X pipe (already purchased)
8) All Pro LS7 cylinder heads with titanium intake valves and SS exhaust valves.
9) All Pro custom spec cam
10) Trend Custom Length Pushrods - For Short Travel Lifters
11) Comp Cams Short Travel Lifters
12) FIC 540cc Injectors (New not Reflowed)
13) ARP Head Stud Kit
14) ARP Crank Bolt
15) ARP Cam Bolts
16) SLP 160 T-Stat
17) TR6 Copper Spark Plugs
18) Cloyes Timing Chain Setup
19) Cometic Multi Layer Head Gaskets
20) GM OEM Gasket Package (Camshaft)
21) GM OEM MLS Header Gaskets
22) ATI LS7 Balancer
23) Norris Catch Can Setup
24) AMS Oil Synethic Oil Change

After a ton of thought about just getting my heads redone at WCC vs a new set of PRC 265s, did a 180 and now have decided on All Pro heads.

The one thing nice about Columbus Ohio is you got IPS Motorsports and All Pro very close.

Make sure you get a C5R chain with your timing set up and do some type of rocker upgrade, comp trunion, CHE, etc. Also, if you want every last bit maybe get a NW102 TB. Otherwise, everything you have listed will work.

Default Short Travel Lifters

Basically say a regular lifter has a maximum travel with no oil in it of say .200 and thus a preload of like say .060. The short travel the plunger has a much short total travel (if it were empty) of say like .100 thus it is able to run less of a preload of say like .020 - less chance for pump up at higher rpms.

Another option is WCCHing your own heads and going with a Katech Torquer cam. Might want to consider bronze guides with new stock exhaust valves.

I would also add CHE Rocker mod and a Nick Williams (NW) 102 Throttle body.

I would go bigger on injectors, no reason not too build in a bit more head room.
Underdrive ATI or stock size?
I would swap the tr6 for a TR6ix or AC Delco ZR1 plug. The iridium plugs run so much better IMO.

The standard Cloyes timing chain is more than adequate, no need to upgrade.

The All Pros are nice but won't really shine with a FAST and a street cam.

But beyond that it looks killer! Good luck!

I finally got a chance to go back up to IPS Motorsports. I was told that these lifters are designed to perform at higher engine speeds. They limit the lifter's internal piston as it is pumped up. By limiting that movement, the lifter cut down on the loss of power and reduce valve train failure at higher rpms. I also believe he said that they were fairly new out.

Thanks for the catch on the CHE Rocker mod. The builder is suggesting I go with Harland Sharp Rocker Arms instead of the GM units modified by CHE.

Any advantages of one over the other? Most have gone with CHE Rockers so I am leaning in that direction.

As for the cam specs, sorry, can't help you. Since I am going with All Pro Heads, Bob is going to build me a custom cam. He knows what I want, at least 550 rwhp with good drivability. He provides this service to customers as an option when they buy his heads. Right now I do not know the cam specs.

Thanks to all for your input and advice!

I'm not 100% sure on this, so I would so do some more research...but I believe the HS rockers will have clearence issues unless you're going to taller valve covers which may already have covered. I am also under the impression that they may be heavier at the roller tip than the stockers...so you're adding more weight over the valve.

I would just do the trunion upgrade for the rockers. I'm running the Comp cams trunion upgrade, bronze valve guides, Ti intake, dual valve springs (675 lift springs with Ti retainers) Manley SS Exh, port and polished stock heads (exhaust ports are opened up to 2in to match my headers) no cats, Ported fast 102, NW 102, vararam, lunaiti lifters, C5R timing chain, LS7R cam, meth kit, and a few other things with my stock injectors, which are very close to being maxed out, like 97% duty cycle.
Any idea of what the specs are gonna be on the cam?

Thanks for the info. Is there any downside to these compared to the stockers??

Have you talked to IPS about their heads they have done? I spoke with them today, they have done work on my cars before.
Just curious if you had any info on the ls7 heads they offer as their own?

No suggestions here, but do have a question on the injectors....my experience is in #/hr flow rates can you convert for me?? You want to be running about 80% DC wot as any less and your tuner will have problems with driveability. I don't know that you aren't spot on but without the conversion can't guess. I was running Lucas 42.5 #/hr injectors supporting 500 rwhp with plenty of headroom in my LS2 402. You will have more power than that so you will need to think about adjusting up a bit.

My HS experience is good but not with LS7 heads. Just LS1.

I would also do a bit of research on any upcoming smog changes in Ohio. If they decide to get tough on emissions LTs are de facto fail in every state due to relocated cats which violate the emissions on cold start. Many states don't currently check but that is coming.
