Default One more car with SS exhaust valves

Just got word that the work on my 07 Z06 is finished at PCM of NC.

- AI 260cc ported heads
- Bronze valve guides
- SS exhaust valves
- Brian Tooley springs
- Comp trunnion upgrade
- Proper length hardened pushrods
- Tune

Won't be able to pick the car up until Friday but I can't wait to drive it again. It only picked up 30hp but having some peace of mind is well worth it. The car only has 13k miles on it but I wanted to make sure I didn't have any issues in the future.

Alvin and Kelly were awesome to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone in the NC area.

Of that 30 HP gain, how much do you attribute to the tune? 20 HP? 25 HP?

I would guess the majority of it came from the tune. It was a small price difference between having them ported and just having them refreshed so I went ahead and did it. Plus if I decide to do a cam in the future it will make a difference.

Interesting......you are probably the first guy in Charlotte area to get SS valves on a their Z.

Nice gains! Always heard nothing but good things about Alvin.

Maybe I'm just paranoid but seeing what's happened to some on this board made me not drive the car as much. I feel a lot better now and to me that's worth it.

Alvin and Kelly are great to deal with. I used them for the TBSS tuning.

BTW, did your old heads measure in or out of spec..?

I asked Kelly to have AI measure the guides but I haven't gotten the numbers yet. When I get them I'll post them up.

Congrats on the upgrade, the good numbers and above all else the new and warranted peace of mind.

Same with me. I drove my 09 to Colorado earlier this month, knowing that I was at the end of my warranty(July 28). New PRC 265 heads delivered and the car is going into the shop tomorrow to have them installed. I'm keeping the stock tune, even though I'm now out of warranty.

When I pick the car up Thursday, I won't have to worry about destroying my engine some 1,000 miles from home. Now I'll be able to relax and drive it.

The guide measurements ranged from .0020 to .0035.

I think you really should put your car on a dyno to get an afr reading to make sure your car isn't running too lean. And have then scan the stock tune to make sure all is good.

No problem. I wish they did the measurements like WCCH does where they measure to top, middle, and bottom. It sounds like they just measured the middle.

Either way at least I can enjoy the car now.
