Default H/C install in my 427 convertible

Finally got around to get the cam and the heads installed on my 427. Already did headers, CAI, and tune on the car last winter.

Didn't quite get the numbers I was looking for, but it was hot, raining and humid when the car was getting tuned that day so i chalk it up to that. It made 546rwhp/493tq

Mod List:

Katech Torquer 110 cam
WCCH heads
Kooks LTs with cats
Halltech Carbon Fiber CAI
RPM Motorsports Tune

Wow, congrats.

You stick with the stock exhaust valves or go with solid stainless steel?

Went with the solid stainless. Looks like GM might have gotten the valve issue fixed in the newer models as my installer said everything still look great doing the wiggle test after 4200 miles.

What numbers did you expect? Those numbers are great for a smaller tq/street friendly cam and with a stock ls7 intake at that.

Sounds good! Congrats! I sure do like those 427 Verts. I think that your numbers are about right/consistent with many that have similar mods!

well I was really hoping for 570rwhp with the mods, but 555rwhp or so was more realistic. Probably could get this in some cool fall weather

I'd look into a 160 Tstat too. What did the car make prior to the H/C?

This car does have the 160 stat.
NC_427_Vert really did his home work, and selected a great combo of parts.
As mentioned, I don't think the conditions could have been any worse for trying to lay down some bragging dyno numbers. These are SAE numbers. When we get an improvement in the weather we can strap her back down and see what it picks up.
But overall I was quite happy how it turned out. Driveability for a cammed LS7 was great. It's got that awesome idle note that most people crave, with good manners, power and nice flat torque.

Glad you got it taken care of, but I highly doubt GM has a handle on the valve issue. They are just going to ride this one out.

Default Emissions

I know in NC emission testing is mandatory. Will that cam pass emissions testing?

One of the advantages of owning a 427 vert is that you can hear that nasty LS7 do its stuff better.

Very nice. My numbers were similar. I did 558/492 on a 227/243 115 cam. Don't sweat dyno numbers, that's all they are. You are within shouting distance, you are good.

No 5 gas analysis? (Hydra carbons, Co, C02, 02, Oxides of nitrogen) We don't have emission testing here in SC yet. But it's coming soon.
