Default Who here is pushing 700-800rwhp on the stock LS7?

I've done quite a bit of research here and been around quite a few of the LS7 FI cars. I'm curious as to who here has pushed these cars in the 700-800rwhp level and how long they have lasted. The reason is, my friends and myself have pushed the stock LS1,2,3,6 motors from 700-over 800rwhp with none of us having issues with lots of meth and good fueling and spot on tunes.

I'm considering buying an 08Z, adding an ECS 1500 kit, a couple supporting mods like headers, my dual M15 Alky kit, and a good tune on Shell URT 110. Opinions welcomed to those that have done it. Thanks.

My stock bottom and stock heads ls7 is currently at 755/657 with a black mamba cam and a D1SC procharger @11 psi also have ARH headers, ID850 inj, dual nozzle AEM meth kit and a KB BAP, car is running great at this level, in the next month or so I am gonna pulley down one size add a mix of URT and turn up the wick, shooting for 800-830 on the URT but will swap tunes when on 93 pump gas, I know several people are over 850 on a stock ls7 and have been for a while, it's all in the tune.

Thanks, Greg. How's the car run at the strip? Any standing mile runs with it?

Anybody else out there making decent numbers and their car is still living?

i have not done any 1/4 runs yet and no standing mile runs in my area, may want to move this to the FI section as it may get more response of actual people pushing the limits of the ls7, years ago 6 psi was the limit on an ls7 but times have changed and with tuning advancing 10-12 psi is not unheard of on a ls7, not sure who it was but someone was running 15 psi with over 100 passes on a stock ls7.

Thanks, Greg. I kind of wanted to stay away from that section in hopes of catching some other folks in here that don't frequent this section. My friends and myself have been posting in there for years, and we are all very competitive locally.

My tuner is spot on and took my little ECS base Novi kit to 149+mph in full street trim with no skinnies, a 6 point bar in full street trim, and drove the car 650 miles without changing a thing at 3600 pounds. I love to drag race, but am not a fan of lightweight, built driveline cars on drag racing setups to run ET's. I spec my little cams, like my C6 on a 118 LSA, to keep the car cruising like a stock car, while sacrificing ET or dyno numbers. I'm just looking for another mid/upper 9 second car on the stock block/heads around low 700's.

There were some threads in the FI section a while back on pushing the ls7, with a spot on tune an ls7 on stock internals will last a long time, so if anyone is on the fence about going up to 700-800 plus go for it !!!!

The problem is finding out who can give you a good tune

unless you have upgraded to forged pistons, I would stay below 630. If you are increasing compression via a blower, you need to upgrade period.

my $.02

You may have to travel to find a good tuner bit it's worth the drive if Infact you would need to travel a good distance to find one.

I would have to disagree on staying below 630, would also have to disagree on the you need to be forged part as well, I have seen $15k forged motors pop because of a crap tune and running lean, don't forget there is safety you can put into a tune if something were to go south, and also the added benefits of methanol injection.

+1

I was at 571whp N/A. 630 is a joke for forged pistons.

Im going for 900Whp + or -. Im using an A&A YSI kit 3.25 pulley, Cam and E85 to keep the motor togeather along with ARP L19 head studs SS exhaust valves and Bronze guides. Im sure 700-800 can be done easily. Ive read a 5.3 hit 1000whp+ on stock bottom end and those motors dont have forged pistons or rods either.

Yeah, I ran well over 850rwhp on a basic built C6 setup. Been there, done that with tons of abuse on a T trim with a 402. 45+ minutes of sustained high speed runs through the hill country on full boost emptying out a full meth tank, back to back 1/2 pulls on the runway, hot lapping(even on the stock LS3) at the drag strip, and endless Mexico pulls up to 200mph with no cool down.

Just trying to gauge the success guys are having with this sustained abuse on LS7's like we do on the other LS motors. Not really just the 700-800rwhp that people make, but actual real load that no dyno can place on a car for hard driving.

My friends make 1000-1400rwhp on these motors that run TI, but not stock.

Curtis, your bottom end is stock? With a ysi and supporting mods I think you. Can hit 900 or close to it. Good luck and keep us posted
