Heads are on, with the outer facing WCCH logo just like Quick's

Pushrod checker confirmed I need slightly shorter pushrods to accomodate the .030 mill and get the proper lifter preload with the Katech Torquer cam's base circle....I think it measured in at 7.775 " with using new OEM head gaskets.

Looks like a small delay while we get some pushrods ordered

Hopefully you get it finished quickly and back to enjoying it without worry of guides potentially causing an issue. Its great to beat the snot out of them again once you feel satisfied you've addressed the potentially problematic area per the data.

Yep....you're correct on all points

The car went into the shop pretty much stock for some usual service stuff, and will come back to me fully modded.....how'd that happen ?????

I'd guess somewhere between 540-565 on the LPM Dynojet.

Jason with Katech is running a 12:1 compression version with 110 cam
Jim of Halltech is running a 13:1 compression version with the 116 cam

They dynoed during their Jim vs Jason build .....

I don't get too hung up on chassis dyno stuff.
If used properly, it can give you some excellent feedback on the changes in your car's power output following a parts or tuning change.

It can also be used to make some VERY general comparisons between engine/chassis combination results from different dyno's and shops across the Country.

Ironically, the only chassis number I generally pay attention to is the uncorrected number....as this is the true power my car is putting down at that point in time and at my geographic location. It doesn't matter to me what it puts down at sea level in a controlled environment, as I live and drive the car at altitude in Arizona

We're hoping to have her on the dyno for the tuning sessions on Monday

With any luck, I'll then make a few passes at Firebird drag strip on March 8 to get some performance numbers

Are you running a fast intake setup? If not you'll probably be close to my 546/502 dyno and traps in the upper 133s when not bogging. That fast setup sure nets an easy 20/20 or close to it though, so if you're running one I bet you're close to 570 on a normal dyno where a stock Z is ~447ish. I say normal dyno because both types can sway largely one way or the other.

My 08 Z is with RichieRich right now having my WCCH stage 2 .015 milled stainless valve heads installed. The previous mods are Katech 110 cam and AR 1 7/8 headers with cats. ported TB. current #'s are 525/505 the car has 28K on it. I may port the stock intake but am not to interested in dropping the $$$ on a FAST.

Yes, I'll be running an unported FAST LSXr102, NW 102 TB, a bump to approximately 11.5 compression, 1 7/8 longtubes, and E85.

As a point of reference, on this specific dyno I will be tuning on, my car laid down a best of 484 RWHP SAE corrected when I used my race fuel mix, MF103, and OEM ZR1 x-pipe and mufflers. 474 was it's best on regular 91 pump gas.

On my last outing, on a cool 50* January afternoon with DA around +900 ft, my car went 10.84@128.9 MPH on a 1.53 60' stock LS7 clutch....on Hoosier DR's.

I'll need to get aqainted with the new Katech LS9X clutch assembly we also installed during the build, but with practice, I should be able to match (or exceed) the performance level I achieved with my original, 68K+, LS7 clutch.

Should be fun getting this new package to hook and accelerate down the track

Assuming an otherwise stock engine, would a tune be necessary for wcch stage 2 heads?

That's a good question.

I would think that the additional airflow from the Stage 2 CNC porting would warrant a tune, as well as if you have a rise in compression by milling the heads.

A WCCH simple valve job, installation of bronze guides, and replacement of valve springs and valves, would NOT require a tune as they do not alter the engine's breathing capabilities..

Looks great, you're close. One tip on something I did putting it back together, I tucked that big harness up there under the fuel rail on each side, just cleaned my appearance up. I'm not sure if you have room to do that with the fast rails? Just an fyi if you can, really no reason not to if there's room. Lookin good.

Yep, I'm on it !!!!

We are going to reroute as much of the wiring underneath the coil relocation brackets and between the fuel rails.

I need to revisit that old Katech valve cover/coil relocation thread that showed everyone's engine compartments, as there were some really nice engine bay's there...and really good ideas on routing wires and plumbing
