Default Need a LS7 motor

Stock 2006 ZO6, 13555 miles and driving to work a normal 2 - 3 shift and shutter and smoke. Poked a hole in the oil pan so now I need a replacement motor on my nickel. I do wish that if GM feels there is nothing wrong with this motor they should sell us an extended warranty on the engine.
I am not fussy so if you have a short block I can build it using aftermarket heads.

Send me pictures and prices.

Thanks

And GM still denies that this is an issue, and people right in here, are talking of rewarding them for this mess, by buying C7s and C7 Z06s.

The above two points are the amazing part more so than the fact that we are reading about another popped motor.

BTW, a guy had a short block for sale over in the for sale section yesterday for $3500.00

Sorry, it was $3800.00

Meantime, there is a guy trying to sell a set of brand new stock LS7 heads, having a heck of a time, and it is easy to figure out why, with threads like this one popping up.

Anyone looking to buy stock LS7 heads, is going to turn right back around, gut them, and put SS exhaust valves, bronze valve guides and new springs into them anyway. So the chance of someone paying top dollar for a new set in here, when a used set will do for that purpose, is going to be slim.

Crap -- makes me more and more nervous to drive my 2008 stock Z06 -- 23K miles on it.

I don't want to be driving to work at 4am and have my block blow out while cruising down the highway.

Sucky thing is I really don't have 3K sitting around doing nothing just so I can fix GM's mistake. Warranty expires in april.

And I will agree with what's been said - I spent 70K on this car in 2008, why the hell would I want to consider dropping that or more on another vette when I have to drive around in what could be a ticking time bomb?

I have put less than 200 miles on my 08 Z since I bought it and the heads are coming off if I fail the wiggle test. Just missed the GMPP deadline and there were no other offerings available. Now the dilemma is cam/porting/tune while I'm at it or just do the heads (exhaust valves, springs, guides) and keep the car "original". Decisions decisions.

Good luck in your search

Sorry to hear this OP. There was another thread recently with a link to 650HP crate motors for like $9000 with warranty. Might of been "Jackal" thread.

Bummer. Sorry about that.

If you don't mind sharing, could you tell us whether or not there were any modifications and a general assessment on how it was driven?

Why don't you just have yours rebuilt? I just had one done that dropped a valve and cracked one of the cylinders and the total bill (parts and labor) was only $2400. If you can't do the labor yourself that'll obviously add to the total cost but it's really not as expensive as most people think.

Have read many of your post since becoming a member in Nov.2011. Most of what i have learned about my Z has been from this Forum! I watched your Video of your new motor and she sounds killer! Reading your statement..7 1/2 long months really shook me for a second.. With kids entering college, it would probally take me that long to recover if something like that happened to my LS7. Ofcourse i pray that never happens. But i really do feel the pain that comes from something like this happening to your( or anyones ) beloved Z!!!!! TO YA LS7 BUD Great to see you back, and Good luck to Jmurf28. Wish you a speedy recovery...
