Default I bet I'm not alone appreciating my C6 Z that much more, now that the C7 is revealed.

Well folks the wait for the great C7 is out, and my opinion it looks like a cross breeding between a Ferrari, a Nissan GTR, and a Camaro (with that HIDEOUS rear end). I mean come on, what were GMs top designers thinking when they came out with that crappy looking Camaroish rear end.

I would have loved the C7 but the rear end KILLS it for me, doesn't match the sleek and aggressive body lines on the car, and the car is WAY underpowered. My biggest gripe about the rear end is that it looks like it was smashed in and by a mack truck, the designers just really screwed up the rear end big time!

I mean 450 HP for a base model 2014 C7, when new Dodge Viper is making 640 HP, 668 HP for the 2013 Shelby GT 500, and my 2006 C6 Z is making 505 HP, and it was made over 7 years ago? This new C7 should have been at least 500 HP.

BUT, this thread is not to RIP the C7, but was posted to PRAISE are AWESOME, powerful, bold looking, C6 Z06s.

1. Incredible, bold, American, agrressive body sytling (including the azz end).

2. No doubt, the last of the iconic GM 427 ci engine, making gobs of power and torque.

3. A real lightweight world class performer (about 300 lbs lighter than the C7) out performing cars costing double its price tag.

4. And lightening fast, considerably faster than the 2014 C7.

MAN, thanks GM, you made me really appreciate my C6 Z, and I plan to keep it for many years to come, and you just saved me LOTS of $!

While I'm quite happy with my C6Z, I'm pretty sure that when the C7Z debuts, hopefully with more power and maybe a wider body, I'll be lusting over it too.....

no complaints about 450/450 from the base level car, especially from the torque perspective.. but it doesn't look like the "super badass aggressive track seats" are even that aggressive really.. being an optional seat I'd like to see them pretty aggressive.

My opinion of the camaro-like bits, such as the tail lights, shift **** and some of the switches and *****, should come as a trickle-down FROM the vette to other models in the range. Pieces and aesthetic ideas trickling down from the Camaro to the vette is backwards IMO.

Don't mind the power SO much, but the weight is a HUGE no-no for me. 3350 lbs??? what the hell are they thinking?

If the current base coupe is 3200 lbs, then with a 100 lbs light frame, 50 lbs lighter body panels + suspension, then I've expect the overall car to be 100 lbs light at least. I'm giving it 50 lbs bonus, for direct injection and variable cam phasing hardware.

If they made a 450+ hp car, at 3100 lbs, with the low-mid end torque of an LS7, then I just might get one in a few years.

But now, the bigger question is, how much would a C7 Z06 and ZR1 weight? If the car is already aluminium, there's nowhere left for weight savings. And I don't see a full carbon chassis Vette happening any time soon...

Not alone at all. Give me the seats from the C7 and put them in my Z and I'm good.

I had this same thought. One of the big selling points of the Z's is the lighter weight to go along with more power/brakes/handling. Not sure where they could "add lightness" in this one. A shame, considering it's heavier.

The C7 is 99 lbs lighter then the current C6. I am going by Cheverolet's figures, not sure where you are pulling your numbers from.

1. Name any American manufacturer that builds a lighter sports car.
2. The C7 is faster then the current Grand Sport in testing.
3. The base model Corvette isn't meant to compete with the Viper or the GT500, but it will give the GT500 a spanking on a road course.
4. What makes you think Corvette doesn't have more powerful models planned for release?

Not alone, but I do like the C7. Just like the C6 more. The problem with the C7 is there is no Z06 variant out yet.

I am guessing that the C7 Z06 variant will come out about a year after the release of the standard model, like they did with the C6 models.

I'm sticking with my Z.

As mentioned above this is just the base C7. I don't know how they will drop weight for the future performance models but 450/450 isn't the end of the world for the base car.

I agree Jimmy, I would of thought the entry level C7 would of been ~ 500 hp. This rear-end has no business on the Corvette. The boxed in rear doesn't fit the rest of the cars lines. I think the rest of the car is tastefully done.

We really need to see it in person to know 100% on how we feel though.
I will definitely not be getting rid of my cammed 427 for a long long time !

No, the frame is 99lbs lighter, overall car is heavier.

As far as C7 goes...im undecided and would need to see it in person. I wouldnt trade my Z for it at all still.

C7 base model is wide body already so you wont see a wide body for C7 Z06.

Lots of Z06 tech went into the C7....Carbon fiber body panels, aluminum frame, the use of magnesium for various other parts, and all this for light weight.

I like the C7...but I'll keep the Z06.

I like most of the C7 styling, the direct injection and cylinder deactivation. Ya gotta like 30 MPG highway with 450 hp.

C7 interior is much better. Also, I like the improved cooling vents + the electronic differential and 7 speed tranny.

And the price is close to the same as the C6.

The rear end on the C7, my oh my. I don't have anything nice to say about that, which ruins it for me. However, the rest of the car was well done. Starting to look for my P-car now, this was my last vette from what I can tell. They wanted younger buyers, I'm 30, maybe I'm even too old for the target demo, who knows.

Why is the rear end crying? I can get over losing round tail lights, but wtf?
