Default Documenting my build

Hello guys, I'm making this thread just to share my build. I bought the car a little over a year ago and it came with LG 1 3/4, 3" catted pipe, borla catback, custom cam .615/.596, 248/254, 112 lsa, xcelerator intake, and dyno tune. The heads and intake are untouched, until now. It made 525/474 sae corrected as it sat, dyno graph below. As this head issue became more apparent, I took action and have decided to take care of the issue. Using Darin Morgan from Reher-Morrison. I will update this thread with progress pics.

I will be having Darin port and mill the heads and replacing the infamous guides and valves. Going to also port the stock TB and intake. And I will be going up to a 1 7/8" exhaust setup. I really wanted a custom cam from Darin as well, but I will be leaving that on the table for a later date. I realize I'll be leaving power on the table keeping this cam, but that will be temporary and I will get to stop worrying about my car and beat the snot out of it.

It was torn down yesterday and everything was sent to Darin today. I'm sure he will make me happy once I put everything back together.

Strong numbers already, some put similar numbers down with head work already done!

In for more pics and updates....

Excellent choice for head/intake work BTW, you won't be dissapointed.

After your build, I'm sure I won't. Fingers crossed and can't wait to get all this over with so I can enjoy my car.

Good numbers Mike! Your cam has more lift but less duration and 114 lsa. Not sure how that translates to my cam but we'll find out soon enough. Sure we'll eventually bump into each other!

What size exhaust you running?

My car's back from the dead. Should get tuned this Friday and I'll post up my numbers then. Can't wait to see the numbers.

Results are in. It will be about 3 weeks before I can drive it but I heard good things about it from my builder. Says it's real snappy with awesome throttle response. Can't wait to drive it!!

Has some surging issues we're working on, but I anticipate getting it taken care of with no problem.

Were the new results on the same Xtreme Motorsports Dyno as the original runs posted?

My stock LS7 dyno'd at 469/438 on that dyno (w/91 octane gas).

No. These results were at LPM if I'm not mistaken. And I believe them to be more accurate. A little lower than what I wanted but if it's snappy with great throttle response, I'll take it.

Just need to address the tuning issues.

When I had my Z dyno'd at Xtreme, they told me they typically see stock Z06's in the 455-475 HP range, which is above the more widespread 440 HP range on dynojets, so you likely picked up 15-25 HP more than the "numbers" indicate.

Enjoy.

Come out to Firebird this weekend for the road course HPDE, even if your car won't be there. Several of us chat board guys run there. I'll be instructing Saturday at the main track. It's supposed to get into the upper 70's - sorry (a little) for you guys back east and other cold places.

Thanks Dave and Victor. Joe is actually just waiting on my DRM Bilsteins today and that should be the last mod I do for a while. At least that's what I keep telling myself. lol

I'd love to take it out already but I'm in Chicago for work at the moment. Won't be back to Phoenix til 2/8 and flying back 2/17. I'm going to be driving the snot out of it that week, though. You guys have anything going on that week? Would be cool to come out and get to meet some local corvette guys.

And you're right on the Xtreme numbers, something doesn't add up with there, but oh well, that's in the past.

Joe tells me that it has insane midrange power and pulls like a muda, so I'm pretty psyched to get to drive it in a couple of weeks.

Check the ACE site.....we have a private Inde track day coming 2/16/2013

I think there's some cruises and a lunch or two coming up as well.
I'm not sure if we will have any drag racing in February as the Speedworld schedule is completely up in the air.

Pro-Auto will be running the Firebird East Track on Feb. 8-10. I'm not sure if I'll make that one, possibly Friday or Saturday. I like the fast sweepers on the pit straight on that configuration. I've got the non-DRM Bilsteins on my car as I got them before I found out about the DRTM's. Even the stock Bilstein Sports settle the tail end down and improve the ride a small amount.
