[Z06] 2013 Z06 and Goodyear G:2 in cold weather

2013 Z06 and Goodyear G:2 in cold weather
My second Z06 and love it. However there is something I was unaware of.
Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 Summer Tires Not Recommended for Winter Use
Goodyear F1 Supercar G:2’s are D.O.T. approved ultra high performance summer tires with track capability. The rubber used in these tires loses flexibility and may develop surface cracks in the tire tread/shoulder area at colder temperatures. Goodyear does not recommend using these high performance summer tires when temperatures drop to approximately 40 deg F (5 deg C) or below, or in snow/ice conditions
My 2008 Z06 had Goodyear Supercar G1 and I haven't found such a warning. Also drove it in cold temps alot(no snow or salt of course)
Anyway after only a month and several drives at around 30 degrees I have some small cracks around the top of the sidewall. A little alarming since the owners manual only has warnings about the 'Cup' tires. I understand traction goes way down in the cold but this is the first I heard of damaging the tire. Now I have to get my dealer checking out the tires to make sure they are OK.
I will go back to Goodyear G:1 since live in Poughkkepsie NY

That would imply that Goodyear changed the rubber compound between the G1 and G2 tires. I don't know if this is true but a lot of people drive these cars in under 40 degree weather.

I never noticed any cracks in my 2012 z06 goodyear tires and it was drove in GA in cold temps. Got 14500 miles on them before buying mic run flats.

I live in NY too and I can tell you it would be a huge waste of money to buy the G1's. I have them currently and they stink in cold weather. It's in the owner's DVD that the tires are summer only. I had the car out in cold weather and I could feel the rear of the car squirming in a corner when it normally wouldn't if it was warm out. Probably better off with PS2's or something.

We had the Gen 2 tires on a Grand Sport and they were miserable in the cold weather. We were caught in an ice storm bringing home from the factory and it was a very rough drive. Additionally, the tires do not hold the road in cold weather and the skipping on a hard turn is very pronounced. They did last 15K and I am now on a very comfortable set of the Bridgestones.

I have never seen anything like it. Skipping on hard turn, and even not so hard turn is unbelievable.

The Michelins, or any Ultra or Maximum performance tire is manufactured for WARM weather driving, and the Manufacturer's data sheet indicates that these tires are "Not recommended for operation below 50 degrees F", and are "Forbidden below 30 degrees F"

By nature a high performance summer tire will have difficulty in cold tempeatures. That is no real problem for me in the cold---JUST TAKE IT EASY. But what startled me was the claim that the tires could actually be damaged---I like to exercise the Z every 2 weeks or so to go through the long winter.
Have talked with my dealer(beyond excellent BTW) and he has talked to Chevy Tech. They can find zero mention of the G:2 potentially being damaged by the cold. I am also
thinking my 'cracks' my just be casting imperfections. I was paranoid after that GY note!!
I wondor if some small brained faked the Goodyear note I started this with..........
