Can't go wrong with either, the 2013 styling is fantastic for the Boxster and the new Cayman photo's out are fantastic. I was torn between the 2 also and went for a Z06 last year as the new styling was not out yet. I had 4 previous older Vettes and wasn't too impressed with them but the newer models are fantastic cars.....still would like the new Cayman though....

I think you'd have to apply every option on the sheet to get to $90K.
I considered a new Boxster S before I bought my 427. It would have stickered at $72K...or exactly what I paid for my Corvette.
There are all kinds of arguments to be made for either over the other, but purchase price ain't one of them.

Interesting post.
Just recently we visited the Porche Audi showroom to look at the S6 (Very nice) and on the other side of the wall in the P showroom was the BoxsterS. She has been telling everone that it is her next car when the 335i convert (E93) lease runs out.
I must admit that I was pretty impressed myself with the new look and fit and finish.
I guess we'll see what happens next year.

I also have a 09 Z06. I cannot envision trading it for either a base C7 or a Boxster S.

That is sort of a backwards step going from a Z to any Boxster. They aren't comparable cars from a performance standpoint with Boxsters on the short end of that stick.

C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Get the Boxster. That way you can really experience the difference instead of guessing. A year from now, when the C7 is available, you'll be back.

well i know which one will have a nicer interior (even know the C7 will be redesigned) ....there is so many nice cars out there now (Audi and Porsche are really growing on me)
this is how you build a nice interior space...

I'm a competitive pistol shooter, rebuild carburetors, do amateur gunsmithing and love Porsche Boxsters.
I owned an 03 for a while. The 09Z is more of a ballistic missile compared to the Boxster, which was just fun to drive. Sounded good, handled good, great steering response.
I'd rather have a Boxster than a 911, I'd just want a bigger flat-6 in it. I still dream of owning a 400-ish hp boxster. I think that would be pretty epic.
The older boxsters are quite light, too.

I agree, but Porsche will never allow a Boxster/Cayman that outperforms a 911. It'd be sorta like GM building a 300HP Fiero in the '80s; gotta protect that halo car.
If I could only have one, I'd have bought the Boxster. It's (IMO) a more fun car to drive on a regular basis, but there'd be times where I'd wish I had the V8 power.
So I got the 427, then I ordered a BRZ (which should finally arrive next month after almost six months of wait) for a daily driver. Kinda get some of both worlds that way.

I test drove the Audi TTRS recently and I do believe that will be my next car. Maybe even within the next 6 mths.
