2007 zo6 35,000 miles dropped valve, blown motor, piston, block cracked into 4 pieces. Driving 55mph on highway with daughter in the car. Thank god nothing worse happened. Gm will not help. This is my second vette that is a lemon. My 1st was a 2004 zo6 water leaked from the hard top roof. Clutch stuck to floor. Love corvettes... Thinking to change to ford, hell no...

Tough break and sorry to hear this.

A dropped valve in a 2007 driving down the highway, I'm thinking that the car would have been out of warranty by now anyhow, so not surprised that GM is not helping.

Can you point us to any 11-13's that have a guide issue, which I presume is the issue you are referring to?

What have they gotten away with?? A high proportion of the engines that dropped valves were replaced under warranty even though they failed in some questionable circumstances. In engines that were under warranty heads with loose valve guides were replaced. Where is the issue? From 2007 the cars came with a 3yr/36K B2B warranty and a 5 yr 100K Power Train Warranty. Cars that were driven had failures within the warranty period and were fixed. Is it GM's or any other manufacturers fault that people don't drive the cars and failures occur outside the warranty period? How many people who had issues outside the warranty period actually requested GM provide some help resolving their issue? If an owner who is having a problem doesn't ask for help GM doesn't have a chance to say yes or no. With the 100s of repetiitive postings of the exact same incident and the wringing and gnashing of teeth over the valve guide issue we can't even tell how serious the issue is. It is just so much noise that eventually gets tuned out like the little boy who called "Wolf" got tuned out.

Less than 1k miles with the eforce and headers. Cam, DYAD clutch, ARP Head studs, and some other goodies are being put in now.

Whoever installed the blower didnt know what they were doing and hooked one of the PCV hoses up wrong so it was sucking all the oil out of the sump tank under boost and into the blower. So due to oil starvation #5 piston fried and popped the ringland, was sucked back into intake side and bent every Ti intake valve, cracked #5 sleeve and cracked the block as well. Also blew headgasket too. I put maybe 150 miles on it and dealership is covering all of the repairs thank god. Getting a new shortblock out of it and the heads have been addressed and am hoping for many trouble free boosted miles once I get it back.

Waiting on block from GM at this point. Will be getting it back around 1 Feb the dealership said. I'm just glad the dealership is covering it all.

Also looking at doing an E85 fuel system upgrade and maybe upping the boost to 6-7psi on the Eforce and see what she'll do.

At least now im taking care of most of the weak links except I'll still have stock pistons, but I'm not really worried about them, especially if I have E85 to help eliminate detonation.

Sorry to hear that (richie). The LS7 is considered a high performance factory engine by GM. GM gets a "F" for not doing a better job with supplier QA. After all, they are what they are...

Of course, they (GM) should, IMO get an "A+" for the designing the LS7 and making it the exclusive power plant for C6 Z06....I applaud them in fact.

Just sucks we read about to many failures of the same type, and over a long period of time. It's a shame they did not look closer at their supplier's product more closely before they put them together. I doubt it would have raised their cost much at all, knowing the LS7 is a high performance factory engine. Hell, they were mostly hand assembled, so it would not have taken much to set up and allowed the builders to check out their parts they were using (QA).

I would also think that they would have definitely had a clue what parts to focus on as far as QA is concerned.

Just sucks to read about the same sort of failures over waaaay to many model years.
