Great T56 vs TR6060 article
For those looking for the fundamental diferences and close ups of the beefier components of the TR6060, check out the JULY 2012 issue of GM High-Tech Performance on page 46.
It's more than just a newer version. Torque capacity went from 450 ft. lb (550 in Viper version) in the T-56 to 700 ft. lb in the TR-6060 and gears are 15% larger.
In addition, page 52 has a photo account of building an RHS LS7 head.
I'm not inviting a T56 vs. TR6060 fight, merely showing where a good luck at the internals can be had.
Cheers

Thanks for the tip, interesting, will have to check that out. My perception might be off, but I seem to recall quite a few negative comments about the 6060... only positive I've heard is it's smoother?
Will have to check out that article

Only negative TR6060 comment I've seen is some 2008s mentioning it's hard to get into 2nd when still cool. Not a single 2008 I've test driven felt like that.
BTW, the article mentions an assembled TR6060 is approx 20lbs heavier, so that solves that discussion (p. 48).

my 08Z has one lightly notchy shift only as soon as I leave my driveway and slowly shift to 2nd, my GT500 did the same, 1st shift only as the fluid/tranny are cool..........both cars have the TR6060. After that, smooth as melted butter all day long

This is exactly how my 04 Z06 is. I just figure its the characteristics of a heavy duty tranny....and that its' happy zone is in the high temps.

My 2011 ZR1 does the same thing. Can't rush that first 1 to 2 upshift after starting up cold as it seems to take more time to get fully into gear. Never had that problem with the T56s in my 06Z and 01Z.
