'79 Vette $12077-$29000 + .... it cost $12000 brand new.

Lesson is.... the stang value will drop like a rock. I am not a fan of pizzin off my hard earned money.

Very few Mustang models held or increased in value, 1st gen Mustangs being the exception.

Let's see how much money you are willing to throw away... ok?

New 2013 GT500
base = $54,200
$ 65,120 SVT pkg & tunes only.
Option this thing out, it is in Z06 price territory on a car who's value will drop like a turd.

NO THANKS....
Anyone who pays $12k for a '79 vette deserves to be blindfolded at dawn, and shot dead.

I don't buy cars for an investment---anyone who does that is a moron.

But since you're so hung up on car values, my '04 cobra sold a couple weeks ago---i could have turned right around and bought an '04 z06 for about the same money. Cobras and gt500's hold their value. C5 coupes have not held their value nearly as well.

Kirk s 5oh,sandrider is a dreamer. There isnt anyone dumb enough on the planet who will pay 29000 for 79 vette and they wont pay 12000 either.Next any shelby or even svt cobra ,is worth more relative to the price it sold for new than a comparable z06 corvette.Sart with 2003 svt cobra anywhere up to an 2012 shelby and i guarantee it depreciated less than a z06.I love my 07 z06 but resale value is superior with the shelby and svt cars.

This is what I learned from this thread.

I used to wonder why people hated the corvette owners so much, this thread has shown me exactly why

Brilliant statement. If you know the market you can make a lot of money doing just that. If your a moron, than no, not advisable.

I have a friend that turns 9's in his 5 yr. old Evo with a big turbo and only about $35k invested.

They definitely are not, but it can be accomplished with pretty much any car ever made. Often for less money than a new ZO6 or GT500. This is definitly an apples to oranges thread. The two are so different they can't be fairly compared, imho. I like both cars, they both have their strenghts and they both have their weeknesses. Anything beyond that only leads to emotional bs. Nobody will ever convince anyone with a different opinion otherwise. Just read the previous 60 plus pages, kinda ridiculous really. It's just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Wow, that's all it had done to it, huh?
I wonder when they removed the cold air intake, the tuning, 4.10 gears, larger throttle body, smaller brakes, put the seats back in and then went back out and ran the same ETs?

Last we'd all heard the car in that video likely had a bit more done to it than YOU have listed above:

- Lower crank pulley swap (I'd say 4lb pulley)
- JLT intake (123MM)
- Ford Racing Throttle Body (twin 62.5MM bore)
- ARH Long-Tube Headers (Catless, stock axleback)
- 4.10 Gears
- Bigs and littles
- 2012 GT500 brake swap to support wheel sizes
- Tuned

Again, I'm not knocking the car or even trying to say that the Z06 is superior or anything, I actually love the new GT500 and the car in that video is ULTRA impressive to me.
But please, please be a little more accurate/detail oriented when making posts about cars that you're trying to defend or promote, it really goes a long way at establishing that all important 'credibility'.

ok, ok....I'll post the vette facts.............

C5ZO6 (346") 1/4 mile times on factory rubber, 405fwhp/360ish-rwhp from the factory.
Fastest ever= 11.783 @ 116.90 w/1.818 60ft
Average of the top 5 times=11.869 @ 117.97 w/1.81 60ft
GM High-tech Magazine did a review of a stock 2004 C5ZO6 and ran a 11.97 @ 118. Here is the link........http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ure/index.html
-----------------
C5ZO6 (346") stock w/drag radials, 405fwhp/360ish-rwhp from the factory.

Average of the top 5 times=11.587 @ 118.22 w/1.656 60ft
-----------------

So......GT 500 guys better tread lightly....lol....you dont want to see when they have bolt-ons (headers & intake). And you really, really dont want to see when they do heads and a cam !!

I posted top 5 averages for the guys who claim a one time run is not legit......eat up....

And FYI, this is what the car is capable of.........not the driver...

Here is the fine print.....all runs can be verified by time slip and/or videos......come get you some.....

Now you post your GT 500 facts...........??????????

Your first 2 statments show me your level of maturity. So I realize I am dealing with a youngster....

C4's or C5's have not done well, but the '04 Z06 did better than your 4 seater, as per NADA. Look it up if you don't believe me.

Education for a 15 year old.... Everything is an investment.
Be it Emotional, Material or Physical. You have to be wiling to pay the cost, and wise men doesn't invest without some sort of return.

My time is an asset, school is over, and I am not wasting any more time trying to enlighten the blind, who will not see.

My 11.90 comment was in regards to the Ford nuthuggers claiming a single fast run does not count. Because all the magazines post the same stock rubber run on the 2013 GT500.......11.6 @ 125.7.........well toss out the single fast run......and post up an top 5 average.......you guys crack me up.

And about your 9.95 Evolution run......so let me get this straight ??
19+ psi of boost
Race gas
drag brakes
custom drag pack w/skinnies
Lower crank pulley swap (I'd say 4lb pulley)
JLT intake (123MM)
Ford Racing Throttle Body (twin 62.5MM bore)
ARH Long-Tube Headers (Catless, stock axleback)
All seats removed but the drivers
etc....etc.....

And your impressed ???????????????/ Dude you need to get to the track more often..........LOL. And where in the hell do you come up with the $$$ amount for the mods ????.............You guys are drinking the kool-aid by the gallon !! The car has not even hit the "real" market yet and you guys crown it King Kong....LMAO.
You do understand that there are four major factors involed here...and nothing is free and there is no magic bullet.....??? (Weather, Driver, Weight, RWHP)
Evoultion and Lethal are the two best Ford shops in the country...here is a dose of reality
Example........Lethal Performances 2010 GT500 made 779RWHP on a Mustang Dyno with a 4.0L Whipple modded to the hilt and ran 9.97@143.98mph on bigs (slicks) and littles.

Would you like to compare the compressor maps of the 2.3 TVS vs the 4.0 Whipple ??

So...again....does the Evoultion car add up to "your" mod list you posted (hint, hint...they either pulled weight or made similar power) ??.. And FYI, DA the day of the 9.95 by Evolution was +1100ft.

I'll post this up again just for $hits and giggles, How many GT 500's run 9's N/A with an unlimited dollar in mods???? I cant think of any!!!! And there never will be.....But I can post up a bunch of C5Z/C6Z blower cars that crush that run......on pump gas.......
-----------------------------------------------
Here is what is impressive.......C6 ZO6
headers
intake
cold air
4.10's
clutch
drag pack.......the damn valve covers never been off the motor !!
...................9.973 137.72 w/1.36 60 ft.................ALL MOTOR !!!!!

Here is a 10.13 run....camera guy left the track one run to early...........But he drove the 9.97 car home on pump gas.....you can't say that about the Evolution car !!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwuv2...layer_embedded

Thanks................With these expectations that "you" guys are living behind....I sure hope your not let down when the car hits the "owners" driveways.
