What I never understand is why do people doing top speed tests always have the traction control off. I get turning it off from 0-100. I don't know about you but I would love traction control to save my butt incase I lost traction at 190+.

did 183 in my bone stock 08 LS3 and still had wiggle room in 5th. This was at 3am with no traffic mind you. I don't mind taking a risk as long as it involves myself but when others are on the road it's a no-no.

Here's a 660 Lingenfelter doing it. I doubt a stock Z06 would do it.

I wonder what tire (or rear gear) this particular car has, as he's shifting at redline (?) at vehicle speeds that are well below what a stock tired, stock geared Z06 gets. He's shifting well before any of the MPH numbers I get in my car in each gear.
If he's running larger diameter wheels and tires than stock, he's actually going faster than his speedo shows if it wasn't corrected in the tune.
IMHO, I think a Z06 with a slightly taller tire and CAI with a shroud and ram-air modifications could pick up the additional 2 mph needed to hit 200 MPH.

Stock Z06 hits 198 MPH on stock 325/30/19 rear tires at apprx. 6300 RPM...which is max HP. Put a CAI with shroud and some ram-air mods in place (ram-air does exist at these speeds), a slightly taller rear tire such as a 335 or 345, and pull 6300 RPM in 5th...you'll see an additonal 2 MPH, IMHO.
The car in the video says stock with CAI, but no mention of the rear tire size.

Looks like he might be running a shorter gear, it's hard to tell with the camera jumping but by the sound it looks like he shifts at 50 in first
and 80 in 2nd. Also looks like he's shifting around 7400.

He may be limited to 200 MPH ( LOL....limited ), but he's getting there mighty fast.....much faster than a stocker could

Ibtl 2012 fellas!
It doesn't seem fake cause I looked closely at the windshield and I saw lights and cars passing on the opposite side of freeway. But he could be modded? I didn't think bone stck z's could do that....

It appeared he shifted into 5th at 157-158, which is normal(162 at 7000 RPM calculated speed)) and he did get it up to 200(hard to read with all the bouncing around). I would rather see a GPS readout vs a speedometer readout, for accuracy. GM says the Z06 will do 198. He did it. A slight head wind or a slight tail wind could make a couple of MPH difference either way. He seemed to be pulling pretty hard in 5th gear, though.

And from the looks of it he exceeded 200. The needle was past 200MPH (more like 209-210).

200 MPH " indicated" is way different that 200 MPH observed with a calibrated instrument.
I think I could go 200 MPH indicated if I spent some time lowering the CD ( drag) AND optimized the gears & tires.
Cheers,R
P.S.
Up to the 170 range the Z in the video sounds exactly like my old 07 Z06. Ran right up to about 170 then it crawled up the scale.
Thermal switch over temp warning (tranny)came on at about 65 miles running at an average speed of 160 mph.I ran with a cage & fire suppression system.
