New personal best for the Rookie.
I just started going to the track last year so I consider myself a rookie but after about 35 passes under my belt I really think I have a good feel for the car.
The DA at our track is normally around 2500 so thats why my trap speed may seem to be lacking. First time out in the car last year I went 11.77 @121. Then over the winter I did a TSP cam, 1 7/8 kooks, vararam, and an ACT twin. The car went 10.88 @ 130. We only get 3 or 4 passes at our track so it is really hard to learn the car but I was pretty happy with that considering the trap speed. The car dynoed at 515RWHP at this time.
So I decided I wanted to upgrade my valves/guides so I bought a set of used LS7 heads that were slightly ported with upgraded valves. I also picked up a ported LS7 manifold from Formatto. My torque curve was a tad better but I only picked up 4rwhp between the heads and mani. This was on the same dyno in better air. I was kinda disappointed.
Anyways, back to racing. Last week was the first time I have ever run in really good air. The DA was 560 and the car was trapping 135-136. However my short time was suffering from the 345/35/18 M&H's I was running and I could only knock off a 10.74 @ 135. My goal for the day was a 10.5. So I was ticked off and decided to go back this weekend on my 315/30/18 ET streets even though they have an '07 build date on them and are all dried out. They will fool you by looking at them though. Once you get heat into them they dead hook.
We got 8 passes in which is unheard of at this track so I really got to figure some stuff out. I ended up with a 10.53 @ 132.

According to drag times the DA was just over 1400, which is really good for PRP. But last week when we ran it was 560!!!!! I wish I would have went with the ET streets last week.

Here is a video of the run and why I am still a rookie. This should have been a 10.4 pass if I didnt take a lunch break between the 1-2 and 3-4 shifts.

Here is a pass with a crappy 60' but much better shifting.

Fantastic results D-rod!!! You are really making some serious head way with that car!!!!!! And yes it looks like you took a bite out of a PB&J sandwich on some shifts

F 'n A !!!!! Those are some solid numbers....hope to be in that territory when my cam and longtubers/tune go in the car.
Interesting take on the ported manifold/head combo.

Hey, good job. Those could improved on but there fine. Unfortunately, your DA, much like how it is down here is really hurting your mph numbers. Crazy how the same car goes 3mph faster just because of variations in the weather.
Anyways, ur definitely no rookie. And don't let some of the bullies on here hold you back *cough*fartpipe*cough* hold you back, ur doing just fine.

Thanks guys. I am thinking of making a trip east to get some good air soon. Any track rentals coming up? If I cant put it all together in some good air I think the car has 10.3 or better in it.

Great run D.
Looking forward to seeing you in the spring.
Hopefully they build a track at Waynesburg next year.
