Default Just dropped Z06 off at Ragin Racin

Finally got in after a 3 week waiting list for a Stg.2. Very impressed by Randy asking me what I wanted to get out of the car. It based lined at 457rwhp and 431 rwtq. Is this alot for 100% bone stock Z06 rear wheel power. Please give feedback.

No, your base line stock dyno numbers are right about where the average norm is for a stock C6 Z.

Good luck with your new heads and cam package you have choosen a shop with a great reputation.

Since you are altering the stock heads, if it were me I would talk to Randy to see what he recommonds for a safeguard regarding LS7 valvetrain failures that some folks have experienced here on their stock LS7 heads, many of them on LS7s that have been cammed up, and hit a road race track, as now would be the time to to make any changes for both power, and also for reliabilty, durabilty, and increased engine life.

For instance, I would at least have them put in bronze valve guides, go with new stock titanium valves, and do a valve job, on your worked over heads, and whatever else they recommond for long term reliabilty.

^^^^Why replace the Ti intake valves? I thought it was the exhaust valves that were allegedly troublesome....

If they are going to upgrade to new valves per the engine builder's request, then I simply suggest staying with new STOCK, OEM, Valves (if he needs new valves at all, which he probably does not).

Randy and Shawn (when he was still there) both recommended the Ferrea Super Alloy exhaust valves. That's what got installed with my Stage IV package.

Car is actually going back to Shawn (now with Lethal Racing) this Friday, actually. Getting a few more tweaks.

Both Shawn and Randy are great. You won't be disappointed.

Stage 2 is intake portings, CaI and headers. Heads won't be coming off this go round When that does happen I would recommend the exhaust valve replacement along with checking the guides.

To the OP, if it were me I would DEFINTITELY have Racingracing pull the heads off and upgrade everything to prevent the drivetrain failures that many have experienced on the LS7 engine, many of them which are cammed up.

Question about the guides. Have whom ever is doing the work check all the guides or just the exhaust valve guides? Thanks

For the time it takes with the heads off, inspect them all.

Update:

Randy with Ragin Racin just called me to give results of Stage 2 on my Z06. 508 RWHP and 483 RWTQ. This surpassed my expectations and I am very pleased with these numbers. Stage 2 consist of AR 1 7/8 long tubes with off road x-pipe, ported intake and throttle body, vararam CAI. Cant wait to take it to the track! Once again THANKS Randy!

Boy do I need to get my car to RR! I have their Lethal Cam, Kooks, Callaway Honker and Corsa and my local tuner could only get 523rwhp/478rwtq SAE...

You have more torque that I do...and I have a cam!!!

Those guys are good...and they WILL see my car soon...going for the Stage IV.

Congrats and great numbers!

Scott

I think I have good numbers because of Randy's port work. He did a stage 4 on my 05 C6 LS2 with his stinger cam (which is very mild and conservative) and his hand ported heads and it dyno'ed 451 rwhp and 435 rwtq. I have friends making this hp but far less tourque. my car will go back to Ragin racin for supercharger on this stage 2 platform in the near future.

I just picked up my z at Ragin Racin and it runs awesome!!!!!! the tune is spot on. I would highly recommend this Stage 2 package, it is unbelievable the difference in acceleration in all RPM ranges.
