Default Motor let go

At the track and in the 5th lap of the day the motor shut down on me. I was in 3rd gear pulling from about 4500 rpms got to about 6000rpms when I felt the car lose power and shake. Went through the turn started tracking out and throttling in when all the sudden I had nothing. Pulled it off the track and checked temps and everything was fine. Safety crew came finally and I was able to get out of the car and check everything over. No windows in the block and only white smoke coming out of the rear. Had the plugs pulled once I was off the track and the damage is in cylinder 8. Hopefully the valve dropped and just cracked the head. As of now she won't turn over. Its a 07 and only has 13xxx and one track day.
I wasn't even driving the car hard at all because the track was still damp and I was getting feel for it.

Sorry to hear about your motor. I wonder how long it will be before the sky is falling group chimes?

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully, your 5/100 warranty hasn't expired yet. I am hoping to finally get my car back tomorrow. It is a couple of days shy of 6 weeks since mine stopped.

yeeeeeah car is modded so I don't know if they will be too excited about covering it. My 5yr/100k expires in like 4 weeks. I'm going to talk to the dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

OH man that sucks, especially when you were going to have your heads looked over next month.

Really sorry to hear about your catastrophic failure.

What mods did you have, heads, cam, headers, tune?

Forget my question, just looked at your profile and see that you have all of the above except your heads worked over.

Best of luck to you.

Oh yeah, meant to ask, what oil were you running Mobil 1 5w30?

Sorry to hear. I saw from other posts it has a cam and tune so hopefully the dealership can still work with you. At the risk of being put in the "sky is falling" group I can honestly say I have no urge to track mine or mod it. The motor could still let go from normal driving but you really press your luck with a tune and some track time.

I hope it works out for the best.

Yep and the oil was fresh and up to level.

I wouldn't chalk this up to mods. Realistically the car has only been modded for a few months and about 2000 miles with the tune and cam. Tune was on point and car was always warmed up properly.

How much time is 5 laps? Any prior warm up laps? And do you happen to know your oil temp? thanks

Lap length is 3.73 miles if I am correct. Did a warm up session and let the oil temps get up to 125 before breaking 3k rpms. Oil temps were only at 226 once it shut down.

Ughh.

Sorry to hear about your loss. That definitely sucks.

Let us know what you find when you open her up.

Hopefully, you'll be able to get her back together soon.
