Been discussed, and yep. Power to weight. Those run 12's.

Yes and anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete retard. I have worked a 550whp dyno verified(2 days prior) CTS-V in my intake only C6Z.

Not necessarily, depends on the driver mod variable for each car.

I think the Katech CTS-V would be tough with the right suspension! Watch the Cadillacs now that they are 200# lighter and are allowed a larger throttle body. Cadillac embarrassed World Challenge the last time and World Challenge was not going to let that happen again.

3200lb/478whp = 6.69lb/hp

This isn't rocket science.

Edit: His exact numbers are 551whp and 567wtq

Even if you are just a 1/2 way decent driver you should take a stock CTS V....

By "faster", are you asking about acceleration or top speed ?

A stock CTS-V sedan has an advertised curb weight of 4222 lbs., with the coupe slightly lighter at 4209 lbs.

Drag racing from a dig (1/4 mile) with equal drivers and traction a stock C6 Z06 will be roughly .7 to 1.0 seconds faster with a trap speed some 7+ MPH greater. It's difficult for the 556HP/551TQ to overcome a 1000 lbs weight difference in such a short acceleration test.

Now, IIRC, an un-goverened CTS-V/MN6 car has an advertised terminal top speed of 192 MPH....that's 6 MPH below the advertised 198 MPH for a stock Z06. Both are drag limited.

The CTS-V sedan/coupe/wagon is one hell of a piece of American iron, but a C6 Z06 has very few equals.

I have both. I have taken both to a drag strip. Once on the same night. My trap was almost 10 mph higher in the Z. Time was almost 1 sec difference. Both are stock. The V is a great car but it's no Z.

This is getting be a weekly thread...

I got beat by one when I had little traction (cold early morning, track was cold and wet, the CTSV had much better traction). When it warmed up, I had them by a car length or two on the 1/4 mile... stock Z06 stock CTSV

Maybe it should be, "Are GS's faster that the new CTS-V?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZJjgpn0lZE

GS has headers and tune.

Somethings not right here:

Vette ran 10.14 @ 106 - Caddy ran 10.23 @ 103
Corvette is an automatic with headers and tune
Caddy is stock

Edit: Oh, it's only a 1000 ft track. Ok, nevermind then.

Was recently reading about the new top Camaro. It's getting the same engine, the LSA, as in the CTS-V. Don't know if "the brick" aka Camaro is the same weight as the Cadillac. This top Camaro is also getting Brembos, mag ride, and some other factory mods.

It's interesting that the question here is whether the CTS-V is faster than the Z06. Interesting because the Z06 is decisively above the standard C6 LS3 whether it's a narrow body or prettied up with a wide body and called a GS. It's still 430/436 hp.

So, rephrasing the question does Cadillac build a car that's FASTER than the standard Corvette C6? It seems awfully close. Another question would be if the top Camaro will be faster than the standard Corvette C6...again....awfully close.

My point being that to be decisively faster than the CTS-V requires a faster model C6. For somebody my age ( early 60s ) who drove many a big block first gen Camaro it is just plain amazing that we'd be talking about either a Cadillac or a Camaro even being close to a vette.

There's been speculation whether the GS model cut into what would have been Z06 sales. Seems to me doubt that it did. But...a whole different class of question would be whether the CTS-V and Camaro with LSA engine will cut into standard Corvette sales. You know they are going to be selling ( or try to sell ) those top Camaros as what C6s sell for.

430hp and about 3300 lb vs 550hp and about 4000 lb.......that would be standard LS3 Camaro vs LSA Camaro....who gonna win in the quarter? It's gonna be close and I don't think that's a good thing.

Don't forget to add to the equation: A fat *** driver will throw the whole power to weight ratio off!
