[Z06] Are we faster then the new CTS V?

Was recently reading about the new top Camaro. It's getting the same engine, the LSA, as in the CTS-V. Don't know if "the brick" aka Camaro is the same weight as the Cadillac. This top Camaro is also getting Brembos, mag ride, and some other factory mods.
It's interesting that the question here is whether the CTS-V is faster than the Z06. Interesting because the Z06 is decisively above the standard C6 LS3 whether it's a narrow body or prettied up with a wide body and called a GS. It's still 430/436 hp.
So, rephrasing the question does Cadillac build a car that's FASTER than the standard Corvette C6? It seems awfully close. Another question would be if the top Camaro will be faster than the standard Corvette C6...again....awfully close.
My point being that to be decisively faster than the CTS-V requires a faster model C6. For somebody my age ( early 60s ) who drove many a big block first gen Camaro it is just plain amazing that we'd be talking about either a Cadillac or a Camaro even being close to a vette.
There's been speculation whether the GS model cut into what would have been Z06 sales. Seems to me doubt that it did. But...a whole different class of question would be whether the CTS-V and Camaro with LSA engine will cut into standard Corvette sales. You know they are going to be selling ( or try to sell ) those top Camaros as what C6s sell for.
430hp and about 3300 lb vs 550hp and about 4000 lb.......that would be standard LS3 Camaro vs LSA Camaro....who gonna win in the quarter? It's gonna be close and I don't think that's a good thing.

Strong rebuttle against someone who isn't a keyboard warrior and has physically raced a CTS-V(numerous times, the owner is a good friend who can actually drive) with bolt-on's and a tune from Hinson Supercars.
4200lb/550whp = 7.63lb/hp
3200lb/478whp = 6.69lb/hp
This isn't rocket science.
Edit: His exact numbers are 551whp and 567wtq

I've raced a buddy of mine and it gets really ugly at 60+. You also have to take into account heat soak on the cts-v.
We did some runs at the track at 90* outside and after a few he was heatsoaked and trapping around 107 while I continued to trap 127ish - its literally bus lengths.
(full disclosure I was making a little over 500rwhp at the time and his is a stock V)

well, i can say a COMPLETLY STOCK cts-v coupe in retarded weather (90+ temps and stupid high da) will bracket race with the best of them running in this order
12.39 117.4
12.38 117.7
12.40 117.5
this car is 6 days old.. so if you can get YOUR z06 to go faster than this, then yes, your cars is faster.. but i will say this.. I have seen PLENTY of z06s go slower than this.. car problem? prob not.. driver mod? prob so..

Well I have been watching this thread and finally had to comment. Just for disclosure, I do have a 2010 Z06 bought new and a 78 L-82 4 speed. As to whether, a CTSV is faster than a Z06, the answer is simple based on 3 things:
1. I have never seen a 0-60 MPH or 1/4 mile time for a CTS-V that is faster than a Z06 tested under the same conditions-NEVER!
2. One should not be surprised by #1 above due solely to physics-it would be almost impossible for a CTS-V to be faster when you look at the HP versus the weight issue. There is no getting around the physics. A CTS-V has 50 more HP to carry an additional 1,000-1,200 lbs! With that weight penalty, a CTS-V CANNOT be faster-period!
3. A Bone Stock Z06 can run 11.2 in the quarter mile-Not even remotely possible with a stock CTS-V-see below.
I hope that this info finally puts this argument to rest!

I love the CTSV! The question and answer have nothing to with whether one embraces the CTSV or not. It's simply a matter of fact-the V is about as fast as a base corvette/GS, not the Z06/ZR1! I actually considered a V as a daily driver but since I drive a lot of miles annually passed on the V but think it is a terrific car!

By "faster", are you asking about acceleration or top speed ?
A stock CTS-V sedan has an advertised curb weight of 4222 lbs., with the coupe slightly lighter at 4209 lbs.
Drag racing from a dig (1/4 mile) with equal drivers and traction a stock C6 Z06 will be roughly .7 to 1.0 seconds faster with a trap speed some 7+ MPH greater. It's difficult for the 556HP/551TQ to overcome a 1000 lbs weight difference in such a short acceleration test.
Now, IIRC, an un-goverened CTS-V/MN6 car has an advertised terminal top speed of 192 MPH....that's 6 MPH below the advertised 198 MPH for a stock Z06. Both are drag limited.
The CTS-V sedan/coupe/wagon is one hell of a piece of American iron, but a C6 Z06 has very few equals.

On a side note I still have your front license plate bracket!

The answer above implies that the OP was asking if one is QUICKER than the other.
At the Texas Mile there were modded CTS-Vs with claimed 750+ HP which were running slower speeds than (claimed) stock C6 Z06 cars.

I like the embrace the Caddy comment and I would include the Camaro in that! Always suprised by the Camaro bashing. Anyway I have a buddy who has owned an 06 Z06, an 09 CTS-V and every year of Viper. He raced an early 405hp Viper (forget what year) against the CTS-V and was neck and neck and his comment was the Z06 spanked the Viper. Just another thought.
