A Few Questions About A 2007 Z06 I'm Interested In Buying
Hi guys,
First post in the Z06 section so please go easy on me. I'm pretty familiar with the Z06 but being that I don't own one I have a few questions. There is one local here in Washington that I would like to go check out. On Craig's list it is listed at $42,751, and Valley Auburn GMC has it listed at $44,241. The millage is listed at, 26,473 with most everything looking stock, less the wheels. Not sure about the engine as there are no photos shown. I know, photos never show everything so a drive there to check it out is a must.
Being that a Z06 is really what I want, and is what I should have bought a year plus ago. What the heck would you advise??? My C6 Vert is flawless, perfect and it has all of the modifications I want. Would it be lacking on my part to trade it in??? Realistically, what would a dealer give me for a 2005 Convertible Garage Queen with 16K miles on it? Being that they are the same color, I can pull off most of the cosmetic mods and put them on the Z06. The Corsa's and powder coated calipers would have to stay.
What are your thoughts, any advise, suggestions or information would be great.

I paid 48k OTD 8 months ago for my '06 LZ2 with nav and only 3499 miles. It came with chrome wheels, carbon fiber console and M2W. It's never been on a wet road. IMO find a low mileage example-they're out there if your patient. A dealer will give you nothing for your car unless they add it to the Z. Sale your car on here and don't be at the mercy of a trade-in deal. 2006-2010 are all basically the same car except some minor upgrades and about 5k cheaper each year of age. Good luck though you will love the Z!

whatever used Z you get,,,,,,, if it has warranty time left get the dealer to make certain it has never had a tune or you will end up with no power train warranty.....
good luck.........these are awesome cars.....

Hey guy....I also had a (2009) Convertible (Z51 w/M6 and NPP-bought it new and only kept it 9 months) and I parted w/it to get my 2010 Z06......It's what I SHOULD have bought in the first place. I could not bring myself to spend that much money on a car. I ended up spending a hell of alot MORE.....I learned my lesson too and paid dearly for that lesson. Two new Vettes in LESS than year. Depreciation, down payments etc....GET WHAT YOU WANT THE FIRST TIME !! I have learned....
I have not looked at the Z06 your getting. Try to make sure it's not had modds done and then run the crap out of it and then put back to stock configuration.....look at the fender wells and look for signs there of burn outs. With the mileage you said it likely does NOT have the original tires either. Most their 'usually' good for is approx 20k (if you take care of them)....what year?

I just lkooked at the Z06....Lools great....inspect it and ask them if it has the original tune....have their service dept check for that.
BTW, your correct, those wheels did NOT come on that year, HOWEVER, they are Vette's wheels.....just more recent wheels. Those were optional if you wanted chrome wheels or the original Z06 wheel during 2010, but during 2010 they became standard chrome wheel and the original Z06 wheels are no longer available. Those became optional in '09 I think....someone correct if I'm wrong....
It looks like a nice Vette....could have been someones daily driver....but it not high mileage by no means. Avg miles for DD or maybe just a lil low depending on in-service date....

Sell your Vette privately then buy your Z06 privately. You will benefit on both ends. As far as price, you can do better with lower miles. I bought my 06 with 2,500 miles (pampered, private owner) for $42,000.

Yep, and I know there's a slight difference between Z06 chrome spyders and ZR1's chrome spyders. The original chrome Z06 wheels were d/c'd during '10. Their now (Z06) the standard chrome wheel.

Thanks for the information guys. Looks like I'll be putting my Vert up for sale in the next few days. Got all winter to sell it so the price will reflect what I want for it. Not going to give it away to a dealer so they can profit. If someone thinks it's to high for them, then buy another Vette.
Thanks..............
Thanks..............

looks like it has a manual switch to control the exhaust, and PS2 tires also. you may get less money trading it in, but you get a tax break also. some times it's a wash. just make sure it's the vehicle you want. have the dealer scan the ecu to make sure it hasn't been tuned and get it in writing so they don't try to void your powertrain warranty down the road.

After looking most of the summer I bought my Z06 a few months ago. Based on what I saw out there I believe you can do better than $42.7K (much less $44K) for an 07 1lz with 26K miles. I think it is priced a bit high unless they offer ~$2K more than Kelly Blue Book on your trade and offer their car as Certified, Previously Owned (CPO). Just an opinion...

gained a year
gained a model
z06 had half the miles @ 10,700
this cost me $17,500 not counting TTL
if i back out the cost of the mods (wheels/tires, stereo and other goodies the original owner spent on the z06) it cost me less than $7000
i'm very happy but it took some effort on my part.
i've drove the z06 1800 miles in the last 45 days its bad azz
do it any other way and it will really cost you

We're pretty much in the same boat; I had a '07 Vert 3LT, Z51 manual with 17,000 miles on it. I got the Z bug too. I found a flawless '06 Z06 2LZ with 2,600 miles on it 3 months ago. Sold my vert (quickly too), added 10 grand and got this Z. I wish I would have bought a Z to begin with. Unbelievable car. The Z belonged to my next door neighbor too so I know how it was cared for.
