Default Changed 09 Tranny Fluid... Question?

I changed the trans fluid over the weekend in my 09 Z06 and just have a quick question. The manual says 4.5 quarts of fluid, but after I drained it, I got barely over 3 quarts back in before it started running out of the fill plug. Is this normal? I even drove it around and checked again, but no more fluid would go in.

also, I used Redline D4 fluid and the car shifts awesome and smooth.

Usually, the remaining fluid is in the cooler and lines.

Normal, don't sweat it. That amount is if it were new and dry.

May I ask what made you decide to change tranny fluid?

Yes. If you have the car perfectly leveled up, the typical refill on the MN6 will be about 3-1/2 qts. 4.5 qts is probably the refill quantity if a disassembly overhaul is done on the tranny. I have done three MN6 drains and refills on C5 and C6 cars and it has always been about 3-1/2 qts to refill.

Would have done it sooner, but kept putting it off and putting it off. Most guys recommend an early trans change to get any metal shavings out. Car shifted good before, but I think it shifts better now.
