Reinforcements have arrived. Katech's own front fascia reinforcement
We're now manufacturing our own front fascia reinforcement rather than purchasing the ZR1 part. GM was not able to supply fast enough, so we made our own. We were getting a lot of GM parts here damaged, so we made the Katech part stronger and less prone to damage in shipping. It's made from fiberglass, weighs 3lbs and retails for $179.99. Fits Z06/ZR1/GS and recommended for any car with a front splitter that sees high speeds (above 85mph)

If you're wondering why a front fascia reinforcement is important on a car with a ZR1-style front splitter, take a look at this video from Lingenfelter's twin turbo Z06 200mph run. Pause the video at 2:38. Look at the front fascia below the grille. The splitter tries to pull the grille mouth open.

The same thing happened to my car in the wind tunnel without the support and it was a pain in the butt to get the front facia holes put back into place so the spoiler would be flat up against it. I purchased the GM ZR1 support and it works fine. Retail on Katech's unit is much less than GM and I assure you it will work and save you a lot of time and effort.
Good show!

WOW!!!!
I knew those things dipped but holy cow!
Glad I put the GM piece in last winter while I was doing other mods.
already for the aero bits.
Kudo's to katech for filling the need.

Yes, I believe that was in Oscoda. We've actually thought about doing a Michigan mile there. I even went as far as to contact the people who run the Texas mile and see if they want to cooperate for an event. We don't quite have to manpower to run an operation like that ourselves. They didn't even respond. One other downside about Oscoda which may be a dealbreaker for Corvette owners is that due to it's close proximity to the lake, the cars get sandblasted.

Once you get the front fascia off it's very easy. It slips over the grille opening and is held in place by the front splitter bolts. Splitter bolts go through the splitter, through the front fascia, and finally through the retainer clip that is attached to the reinforcement. Everything ties together and becomes one sturdy piece.
